  • Candida Relation?

The more I read, the more I think I have candida. I am constantly exhausted, especially after I eat (for years I have been attributing this to chronic fatigue which I may have and the fact that I get up 6-7 times a night to pee, which I am sure isn't helping). But the more I read about candida, the more I think I have it. Constant vaginal discharge, terrible sugar cravings, tenderness along my intestinal tract, along with the fatigue. My question is A) has anyone had candida and gotten rid of it (if so, how so? I see diets of what not to eat, but not sure what you really can eat. How long until you felt better?) and B) did you notice any improvement with your IC? A lot of what I read states it can be a factor in autoimmune conditions.

    Thanks so much.

My suggestion is to discuss your concern with your doctor so you can be tested. That way you will know and if you do have it, it can be treated.

I usually just call my primary care physician unless I know my problem is my IC.

          Candida- Is yeast..

If you have to much yeast in your system it can cause flu like symptoms.. I had an allergy test done on me and I am allergic to yeast..So when my body gets overloaded with yeast I can tell.. I am tired, sluggish, I ache, and I get terrible headeaches..So what I do is detox myself from the yeast, and eat only lean meat and green veggies for about 2 weeks, This really gets my body back on track..

            Systemic candida

I once had a terrible time with candida Monillia that kept re-occuring. I had an allergy test and found I was allergic to yeast and molds which I am sure didnt help. After a long bout on Diflucan, and Nystatin I finally got it under control. I have been doing very well with daily Greek Yogurt, plain flavor with Threelac and Inulin added to it. Threelac is a combination of three types of probiotics that keep yeast from overgrowing, Inulin is a type of sugar that feeds the probiotics. I also used acidophollis vaginal inserts for a few months when I was healing. Try not to eat a lot of sugars in your food as this can make the body very acid, otherwise I didnt find the diet much help.
As the fallout from this four month yeast from hell, I ended up with vulvadynia as chronic yeast is a huge nerve irritant and can cause a chronic inflammation of the vulvar area. All is under control now, but chronic yeast can play a part in a lot of other immune function problems if it isnt controlled.
If you have vaginal yeast problems, your OB/Gyn can do a pelvic and wet prep smear in the office and tell you about it. If you think its systemic see an Allergist who can test you. Most GP's are fairly dim on the chronic yeast problem.

Well, it worked for me. I think it is stronger than most of the health food store products. I believe Katrina also has used Threelac, in fact I heard about it from her, maybe she will post on this also.

I took Threelac for about 2 months (one sachet in the morning and one at night) but then I stopped and switched to another probitoic: Primadophilus Optima 35 billion CFUand 14 strain plus FOS).
Threelac has vitamin C and I'm also taking another supplement for my eyes that has vit C and all that vitamin C was bodering my bladder.
I want to try Threelac again, maybe every other day alternating with this other probiotic.
How much Threelac one has to take for it to be effective?

                    Probiotics Femdophilus or other brands
Gy-Na-Tren for yeast infections (started using it as needed since 2010)
Other Rx:Omeprazole 20mg; benadryl as needed, Restasis

Past Meds and why I stopped them:

                        Sporanox (Itraconazole)

This drug is a member of Azole family of anti fungals Yeasts, a person can develop resistance to one type of drug, then you have to try another. Sporanox is a drug that the following types of yeast are susceptible to: C-Albicans, C-Tropicalis,C-Parapsilosis. It ability to kill C-glabrate is not all that good, or C-Krusei either. So if you have one of the types of yeast that are sensitive to it, it could work. However, if Diflucan didnt work, then this probably wont work any better or any worse than that did.

                          Lamisil

Lamisil belongs to the Allylamine family and is a broad spectrum anti fungal. It works well with some Candida species and some molds. It is not an azole like Diflucan.

I was a chronic yeast sufferor and I know it affected a lot of my body....I have improved greatly with the help of probiotics but to say I have gotten rid of it would be an exageration. I take the strongest probiotic that exsits...VSL#3

I agree that Threelac is one of the better ones!
Since yeast can live in digestive tract and you can re infected often to fully clean yourself out is a slow process....I may be able to win it if I didn't need antibiotics.

Sometimes the yeast diet is what you need.

Although a culture of your vagina can test for vaginal yeast when you have it elsewhere...which is often what is going on for chronic patients....I don't know how that is tested sorry. It was sort of just assumed and treated in me.
