  • Guess who was right?

You got it, me. I have been talking with my gyno for the past month and a half about how I have been itching. Then a month ago, I missed my period, but in return I got this nice black stuff coming out of my vagina. I told them about it, they said that it was no big deal, just dried up blood. Then I got bumps on the outside of my vagina. Started out as a couple, now I believe it is close to twenty. Made an appointment a couple of weeks ago for today, went in and guess what, I have a yeast infection, one of the worst that he has seen. I really wish that they would have listened to me a month ago when this was a concern of mine. They have taken a culture on the numerous bumps and told me that they would call me with the results in the next week. There was good news though, I have been cleared to try and get pregnant. My uro cleared me yesterday, but said that I will have to get off Elmiron which scares the crap out of me. My gyno cleared me today, apparently the cyst on my ovary is not a huge concern for him. So, all in all, good day, I just wish they would have listened to me sooner and saved me all this time of being in pain and itching!

P.S. Am I allowed to use heating pads while trying to conceive? What about Prelief? I was also considering taking either AZO yeast or the natural supplement that keeps yeast at bay, are either one of those okay to take while trying?

I suggest talking to your doctor about some of the alternative treatments for IC http://icandme.9.forumer.com/index.php?showtopic=4 herbal start with IC
to help make up for the lack of Elrmion.

I would think a probiotic would be ok...since that is natural ...something your body has some in anyway.
Specifics though is something your doctor should tell you.

yeast that bad scares me...makes me wonder how much yeast might be elsewhere in your body???

    Good luck!!

How can I find out if I have yeast elsewhere in my body? Can I take the natural supplement that starts with an a and it is a long word. (sorry, I don't know what it is called) to help combat all of the yeast? Can I do this while trying to conceive?

Well do you have symptoms of yeast elsewhere in your body? yeast causes gas, IBS symptoms, fatigue, many will crave sugar,

I don't know if there is a test that can say for sure other than specific tests for specific areas...like the mouth, digestive tract.
I don't know of a reason why you wouldn't be able to take AZO yeast but since I have never been pregnant and although it is natural it is herbs so a doctor or someone that has taken it while pregnant or trying would be the person to answer that not me sorry. If your thinking of something else I don't know what that is.

        once again...good luck!

How long have you been on Elmiron? I was on it for about a year and had to go off of it while I'm trying to get pregnant. It helped me so much. Good news, I've been off of it for almost 3mos now and I've been doing really good, only a few flares. Hope you get the same results. Good Luck!

Hi I was on Elmiron 6 years ago before I had children and was really worried about stopping but found as soon as I was pregnant I seemed to go into a type of remission until I finished breast feeding and the symptoms returned. This happened for all 3 of my pregnancies so thank god I got through it quite well. I finished breastfeeding my last child 3 months ago and now I have the sypmtoms back in full force so I have again started Elmiron and am waiting patiently and praying for the Elmiron to work after 11 weeks. Anyway my point is try not to worry to much about stopping Elmiron because you may find pregnancy and breastfeeding can be very healing. Good luck

I have been on Elmiron only about 3 months, but my husband and I were wanting to start having babies around the time that I had to go on Elmiron. We are both 27 and not getting any younger and want to have children. My symptoms have been improving so we are going to try now and see what happens. My uro told me that they could put meds directly in my bladder if needed. My main problem right now is my poor vagina. I have had issues with dryness, bumps on the outside and yeast infections. The bumps have been cultured and should probably get a response tomorrow on what they are. I am wondering if I am having an allergic reaction to something. I hope I do as well as you have! Good luck!

Do you find the Hydroxzine and Elmiron have hepled as yet? What is the Hydroxzine used for? Elmiron was so fantastic for me before children but I cant remember how long it took to help. I see me urolgist next wek but think I need something as well as the Elmiron as the constant feeling of inlammation and infection is driving me nuts. I wish i could just keep having kids as for me its like going into remission but the one thing I do regret is not going straight back on the Elmiron after finishing nursing my last child as now im in a major flare which I can t help thinking may of been avoided if I got on the Elmiron sooner.

The hydroxzine is used at night. It helps calm your bladder so you don't make as many trips to the restroom. Before meds I was going once or twice a night, rarely three. Now I don't go at all or I might make it till like 5:00 and have to get up early to use the restroom. I was having pain all day everyday before the meds kicked in. I still have pain everyday, but I have periods of time throughout the day that are not painful. I have really cut out alot of foods though and I think that is the main contributing factor for me feeling better. I have stuck with the same foods that I know for sure are okay and add in something new every couple of days. Are you on the diet?
