  • Uti help!

I was wondering if anyone knows the answer to this question?

If your husband has an affair with a women that has a urinary tract infection can he spread the germs to the wife?

I have not had a UTI since my husband left me, I think he has someone else or has been with someone.

Some one please if you know the answer I need to know.

It's possible, but it could also be that you are one of the women who is prone to UTI's caused by sexual activity.

I have not had sex since my husband left in january, I wonder if his cheating caused me to have uti's. it just seems mighty strange i was getting uti's and he desserted me and no more uti's. I guess i need to ask my uro about that.

I think what Donna was trying to say is that the sex caused the UTI. No sex since husband left = no UTI.

UTI's are commonly caused by e. coli bacteria, which is normally found in the digestive system. What happens is that you are more or less infected with bacteria from your own body. Your uro or OB-GYN should be able to give you recommendations for how to reduce your chance of UTI's, but for some women they are so common and unavoidable that they take an antibiotic before and after sex.

I take a probiotic called Fem Dophilus every day due to my problem with yeast, BV and UTI in the past which I am pretty sure is exaccerbated by sexual activity. I have not had the problems I had in the past since I started this probiotic. I have been considering cutting back now that I've been taking them every day for over 3 years, due to the cost. I have gotten so much relief from them I'm reluctant to cut back. They are by a company called Jarrow and be careful where you buy them. They must stay refrigerated. I order them online from a company that mails them in dry ice.

Right now I am managing my IC with:

          Diet
          Fem Dophilus daily
Desert Harvest Aloe Vera for flares
          Jarrow Quercetin for flares
Nature Made Melatonin to help me sleep if I need it
          Stress Management
          Yoga

          I've tried:
          Cystoprotek & couldn't tolerate it
