    Eosinophile esophagitis

    I was «cured» of IC back in 2018 when I had neobladder surgery.

    I am being evaluated for «eosinophile esophagitis» (EoE) which is a chronic inflammation of the esophagus. My main symptom is occasional problems with food getting stuck and not being able to swallow.

    Since it’s another membrane related disease, I was wondering if there are others here with the same problems? I have not found a clear link to IC but thought perhaps there could be a connection.

    I also have asthma and various allergies which apparently is typical for EoE patients (one researcher called EoE «asthma of the esophagus»).

    Lately my main problem is CFS (chronic fatiuge syndrome). Are others here struggling with that? My doctor thinks it is due to 10+ years of struggling with severe IC w/hunner’s disease. But the fatigue is only getting worse.
    Male (born 1970) living in Oslo, Norway. Diagnosed (cysto) with BPS/IC with Hunner's lesions on 23 Nov 2015 after many years of pain.
    Symptoms: severe bladder pain, bladder cramps, urethral burning, painful urination, rectal spasms, acute retention (requiring self catheterization).
    Treatment: Successful neobladder surgery on Dec 7, 2018.

    I'm very sorry you have another health problem to face. You have already been through the mill and absolutely don't need anything else --- I'm not familiar with your current diagnosis, but send well wishes. Please let me know how you are doing.

      Almost a year has passed. While there was some evidence for EoE, I was diagnosed with GERD. It is being treated with Nexium. I still regurgitate food but it is less of a problem now.
