  • Pain.......UGH!!!!!!

    Hi All,
I had my nerve/muscle/tissue biopsy 2 weeks ago and now I have a 3" incision that's held together by staples on my left ankle.
My husband and I took a fast trip (from here in Houston) to Lincoln, Nebraska to see my family this week. I hadn't seen my family in 2 yrs and when Mike found out he could take this past week off we decided to head north! We had a very nice visit and the weather was great.......but my incision got infected while being gone.....and it's swollen, red and hurts I saw my surgeon on Thurs morning after we returned and he put me on an antibiotic and told me to keep it elevated and iced down......which I have....but it still hurts. I'm suppose to get the staples removed on Tues. and I'm not sure the dr. will be able to do that if it's still swollen like it is now. He told me that since I'm taking Lyrica and that causes hands and feet to swell that's probably not helping at all. So I told Mike this morning that I was going to tough it out till next week and not take the Lyrica and see if that helps the swelling to go down or not. Well that sounded real good this morning.......but now I'm back to having the body aching really bad......ugh! Why does life have to be so hard??
I'm going to take a sleep med. in a few min and try to go to sleep. I hope it knocks me out and my ankle isn't swollen in the morning!
Hope everyone is doing ok tonight.........Roxie

      HI Ronda,
Thank you! It's been a long day with this rotten nerve pain and the swelling hasn't helped at all. I'm really hoping that stopping the Lyrica for a few days will help with the swelling.....and the antibiotic too. Take care......Roxie

I am taking Lyrica too and my ankles seem to be swollen too but I never knew it was a side effect probably from the medicine...

He may take every other staple out so that the infection will drain....meaning that excess fluid might drain off, and he'll schedule another time to take the remaining staples out.

I'm sorry you're hurting. I hope you're feeling better by now.

                          Hugs, Sandy

04/17/09 Crohn's disease almost killed me with a combo of extreme constipation from pain medications. My bowel ruptured, I almost died from peritonitis and spent several days in the ICU then more in a private room on the floor. If you have any questions about severe constipation from pain meds please don't hesitate to send me a message.
