Does anyone with fibro and/or CFS have a supra pubic catheter please? Could you tell me how you get on with it, how the operation went, & how much pain you have? I'm worried that the pain will be unbearable & that it won't heal properly. thanks

Forgive me if I missed a post where you explained, but why are you getting the supra pubic cath? I've taken care of a lot of women who had a variety of surgeries that involved leaving in a supra pubic cath. Most of the post op pain is superficial, meaning right on the skin level. Most women can't even feel the cath. It's held in by a few stiches. I'm sure they will give you something for pain afterward.*IC-- Summer 2004; PFD--October 2005

This looks like a good, informative website. Let us know how things go if you decide to have it done. The one problem with fibro is that you will be sore all over after any kind of surgical procedure. After my hydro I thought I was never going to walk upright again, but after a week or so I did feel better. It's not pain so much as it is a really bad soreness/achey feeling.

ps...this site mentions drinking cranberry juice. We all know that wasn't written for us IC patients!

Why is it that a person with Fibro feels that way. If you dont mind me asking how did the dr finally say it was Fibro. My dr has been going around and around with me since 9/06 and still says well you know there is not positve testing for that and you might not have it but everything except for not having migraines states I have it. I really dont know what to do!Blessings,

I saw a rheumatologist years back and he tested 19 different pressure points on my body...I had more than the 11 that was required to be dx'd with fibro. Seems like every place he touched was painful. I also have myofascial pain syndrome, and my muscles actually feel like ropey bands all cramped up. ps...fibro patients hurt after having their bodies moved around like that. Especially under anesthesia. I felt like I'd been hit by a truck, and my leg (mostly my thighs) muscles REALLY hurt from having them put up in the stirrups for the hydro. Thats the only reason I've not gone ahead with another hydro, because it really did help me eventually.*IC-- Summer 2004; PFD--October 2005
