  • Could I be allergic to Charmin?

Well, I have good news and bad news. The bumps that are all over my poor privates have spread to actually being directly on my vagina. I found one yesterday. My cultures came back, my uro and my gyno, both took cultures. My uro's office said that it just came back as natural flora my gyno said it came back negative. So, that is the good news. The bad news is, they don't know what it is. My gyno is going to give me an oral medication to see if it will keep it from spreading. So I have come up with the idea that it could be my toilet paper. I switched a couple of weeks ago from Angel Soft to Charmin because I thought that Charmin would be softer on me down there. I do not remember exactly when I switched but I do know that I am on day 25 of having bumps. So I have called my uro and asked if it is possible that I am allergic and if I could take Benadryl to see if that works. They said yes. So I switched back to Angel Soft this morning, am going to take Benadryl, also am on Hydroxzine and Elmiron and will be taking whatever meds the gyno prescribes to keep it from spreading. The main reason I believe it has lasted this long is that I was having itching, pain, and burning and I was not for sure if it was bumps or if I had another yeast infection. Went to the gyno last week and he said I had one of the worst yeast infections he has seen. He gave me meds and after the meds I was still itching down there, so I believe the bumps are the culprit now. Has anyone ever heard of or had something similar to this?

It could be the toilet tissue. I read labels and only buy plain white, unscented tissue.

This could be very possible...I have to watch what toilet paper I use. soaps, shampoos, washing powder.. I know I cannot use any fabric softners...I have to wash my panties in baby washing soap and rinse twice!

I find that angel soft is better for me. I did not like the charmin because it flaked off of my skin too much. It could be anything, even something you are eating. Allergies are no fun and are so hard to determine the source sometimes. You may have to cut things out one at a time slowly until you find what is doing this. What do the bumps look like, are they like pimples, or more like a rash? I am sorry you are dealing with this, I pray you get some relief soon.

I have stopped the Charmin and am just using Angel Soft as of today. I took one pill of Benadryl and I think they are shrinking!! I can barely see the one that popped up on my vagina. Some of the pumps were small to where they looked like a rash and there were a couple big ones that looked like pimples. My gyno told me not to squeeze them, but the other day the biggest one was right next to my urethra and next to another one that would make it hard to sit so I squeezed on it a little bit. I felt like, he wasn't doing anything about it, sit and wait a week and a half for results was his solution, so I did something myself. I did feel better afterwards and it was smaller for a while. I am getting ready to take a second Benadryl, I will tell you how it works. Wouldn't it be crazy that for the past 25 days I have dealt with this and I might have only needed to take a Benadryl and change toilet paper? I really am crazy!

I happen to be allergic to aloe, which they put in just about everything- including toilet paper. When aloe gets on my skin then my skin turns red and I feel like it is burning. So yes, most likely it is the toilet paper. Do you still ahve the package? Read what they put in it so you can avoid getting other things with the same ingredients. Glad it is clearing up.

I just switched to using 100% Cotton toilet tissue. It's WONDERFUL! I have started letting my daughter use it as well as long as she doesn't use wads of it because it's so expensive ( or it is for me ). It's about $4.99 for a 4/pack at my organic co op but maybe you can find it less expensive.
