  • Need help with increasing lower back pain

I was diagnosed with IC last summer after battling with all the symptoms for over a year. In the past few months I have started having severe lower back pain that just keeps getting worse. I'm going in to see a neurologist next month to see if it might be nerve damage because of the IC. The weird thing is that I now can't sit, stand or walk for any length of time before the pain becomes horrible. It seems to creep up my spine and into my shoulder, especially on the left side. I'm also noticing that at night when I sleep that I'm waking up from the pain, it seems to be really bad in all the areas where the bones come in contact with skin, such as hip bones, shoulders, knees, etc. My doctor says that I don't have enough "trigger points" for him to consider fibromyalgia. I'm wondering if I could have some kind of nerve entrapment or compression because of the pain getting worse with movement. Have been on Gabapentin for months and it doesn't seem to be helping the pain, in fact it is just getting worse. Am going to ask the neuro if he would be willing to do an MRI to see if there could be any kind of nerve or disk compression involved. Has anyone had anything similar and, if so, have you found anything to be helpful? Thanks.

    need help with back pain

    Hi,
So sorry you're having to deal with back pain on top of IC. It does seem that a lot of us here have problem backs. Not sure if the nerves around our bladders cause the back pain or not.
Have you talked to your doctor about maybe getting an MRI to rule out anything like a bulging disc? That might be helpful in narrowing down the cause of your pain.
I hope you can find out what's going on so you can get the treatment you need for your poor aching back.
    Laurie
