  • YEAST

I've been reading a book called "The Yeast Connection" and have been very intrigued with this. My symptoms started with a UTI for which I took 3 different antibiotics for and still the symptoms never went away. I still have symptoms of UTI on and off although my uro put me on antispasmodics which I've been on for about two months. I've had alot of itching and burning in my vulva lately and I'm wondering if it's not yeast related. I tried the Monistat OTC cream and the burning intensified, so I stopped. This book is really interesting. The author seems to think there is a link between IC and yeast. There's also a chapter relating to IC and how people have been helped by taking Diflucan and being on a sugar-free, yeast-free diet. Hope this helps. I'm going to get an appointment with my gyno and bring it up.
    Take care!

I TOO HAVE READ THAT BOOK AND ALSO THE YEASTCONNECTION AND THE WOMAN WHICH IS ALSO VERY GOOD. I ALSO HAVE FOUND A DR. IN MY AREA WHO WORKS WITH SYSTEMATIC YEAST.I AM CONSIDERING TRYING THIS. I HAVE DONE DMSO &ELMIRON,NOTHING SEEM TO HELP. I HAVE ALOT OF VAGINAL IRRITATION AND ALSO USE OTC CREAMS.I AM STARTING TO WONDER IF THERE IS A CONNECTION.IN FACT JUST TODAY I SPOKE WITH FELLOW ICER WHO WAS JUST DIAGNOSED WITH ORAL THRUSH.(YEAST IN THE MOUTH) THE SECOND BOOK IS BY THE SAME AUTHOR AS THE YEAST CONNECTION. GOOD LUCK-JOJO

Coincidentally, I just picked up The Yeast Connection yesterday and am also wondering whether or not that could be at the root of some symptoms I've been having, such as aching all over and fatigue and joint pains in my wrists. I eat lots of sugar, especially on the IC diet because I can't have most fruits so I eat cake and cookies and ice cream like crazy!!!! Apparently sugar is like sprinkling fertilizer on yeast, so I'm going to cut way down and see what happens. There soooo much info out there that we don't even know about. I think I heard about that book on the ICN. Even if it is not the cause of these things, it can't hurt to have the information in my head.

Hi Kat....Have you ever had your thyroid/adreanals tested??I had alot of joint pain with low-gland function.
For all you other gals Ive got a dr who treats yeast systemically been on Diflucan pills and Nystatin powder and of coarse
the VERY STRICT Candida-diet,my bladder pain is 95% better!I DO WORK FULL TIME AS
A WAITRESS IF THATS ANY CONSULATION!
I strongly believe theres a CONNECTION!
        Im also getting thyroid(possible
adreanals drs suspecting also)treated. Then after that a hormone
profile to balance all three of my hormones
        (once thyroid(?)adreanals are corrected
        FIRST of coarse..or nothing metabolizes
        properly!!very important!!)
Then i will get hormones through a compounding pharmacy.(i had a total hysterectomy at age 27 for severe stage 5 endometreosis)So also im on
a minute dose of estrogen .25 estradiol which
is not much for my age of 33!!I belive low-estrogen plays a CONNECTION with IC too!!
Yes ladies go check out the systemic yeast deal!!!It may work for you too!!
Ill Pray For All Of You!!God Bless Deedee

          Thanks, DeeDee,
Yes I've had my thyroid tested...been tested for everything under the sun, including lupus, but always negative. I'm glad the diflucon, etc., is working for you. I'm going to continue to read this book so I'll know if I need to talk to my drs. about yeast. So far, tho, it doesn't look like it. A LOT of what they say doesn't pertain to me. And I'm taking pure estrogen for homone replacement in menopause and that's not supposed to be a problem for yeast, according to the book. Still reading....

have you been tested just recently? they have just lowered the number for the t-3 test. you may need to look into this because it has been 2 weeks since they did this. i would ask my dr. to retest your thyroid.
you can get lots of info on about.com they even have a thyroid report that keeps you up to date.

Hi everyone. I do not have vulvodynia but I have I.C. I was misdiagnosed for about 10 months and was consequently put on about 14 antibiotics. I had monthly if not bi-monthly yeast infections. i became immune to Diflucan and Terazol 7. My Gyn told me to try 3 boxes of Gynazole 1 (3 treatments-prescription). This did help but I needed help getting the yeast under contol. My urologist told me to try Probaccilus Plus which has 4 billion good bacteria per capsule. I take 2 a day. I have been on it for over 2 months and have not had a yeast infection. It can be ordered from Horizon Quest. If anyone is interested in the phone number let me know. I know how annoying yeast is and hope this information can help you.
