  • "Sex and the City" season premier and vulvadynia

I don't have vulvadynia myself but I just had to post about this. Last nite I watched the season premier of "Sex and the City" on HBO and one of the main characters was diagnosed with vulvadynia after going to her gyno for what she thought was a bad yeast infection. She was put on an antidepressant. Obviously someone who works for that show has or knows someone who has this. Now if we can get a tv show to have a character have IC. Hmmm, maybe ER.

Hi Nancy...I watced it too and knew exactly what it was. Thanks to my IC I know all about it, but before this, I would have had no idea what it was. It wasn't really funny how her friends were making fun of her and saying she had a depressed vagina, but I guess this kind of stuff is comical to the writer's. Do you watch it every sunday? If you do, we can fill eachother in if we miss it. I really like the show and hate missing episodes. Hope everything is well for you.

    Hugs,

      Alisha,

I don't have HBO so I watch it sporadically but a friend of mine is an addict and we plan on having "Sex in the City" get togethers now every Sunday at her apartment so you and I can discuss the episodes. I agree with you that the depressed vagina conversation was in very poor taste. Perhaps if she had said it herself I wouldn't have minded as I make fun of my IC/PFD to help deal with it. I am curious to see how they work it into the show and if they deal with it more seriously. At the very least there were probably a bunch of people who have vulvadynia watching the show who didn't know what was wrong with them and will now ask their gynos about it. If you ever want to email me my address is [email protected]
