  • Bacterial Infection

My gyno says that I have a bacterial infection. I have a discharge that no matter what i do will not go away. It is not yeast, but he says an overload of (I believe) white cells. We've tried EVERYTHING! He says it could just be something I'm using that is irritating or causing an allergic reaction like my soap, detergent, etc. I've tried changing products and still nothing.
Anyone else experience something like this? It's pretty much a clear/yellow color and sometimes can have an odor.
    Thanks for any help!

This is the same symptoms that I have, but found out that it was a overabundance of acidophilus. What I did, was take brewers yeast which killed off the acodophilus.

I did have a culture done, which took 3 weeks in order to get the correct diagnosis and did the brewers yeast under the advise of my gyno.

      Hello Dana,
I know how you feel. I've had the same problem for YEARS!! I've also been told that it's vaginal shedding.
(white cells) However, none of the doctors could explain to me why this happens, OR how to get rid of it. I've found that douching with cider viniger and water daily eliminated most of the problem. I think it's normal?? If you find any info or a better remedy, let me know
      Hope this helps,
      -Jennifer

Hi! I have the same problem and the doctor tells me it's an over growth of good bacteria . When they first examine me they think it's a yeast infection and find out it's not and nothing they give me gets rid of it and I think it makes my bladder bother me even more. It is very irratating because it feels like you have an infection.

I'll add my two cents here, too. I used to have a horrible discharge. It took me a long time to find ways to get rid of it, but I haven't had the problem for several years now. I stopped taking tub baths unless I add an antibacterial soap or a small amount of betadine to the water. I almost always shower. I wear panties with cotton crotches and on the rare occasion I must wear panty hose, I cut out the crotch (I usually wear thigh highs if I really have to). You might also try double rinsing your underclothing.

I also am irritated by the softeners used in the dryer.

Two of my children have skin allergies and it took a long time to find a detergent I could use for them. I finally found that Cheer works for my family.

Oh, yes ... someone suggested I put baking soda in my bath water ... for me it was a huge mistake. It increased the itching until I was almost wild.

I hope you find something that works for you very soon.

          Sending healing thoughts,
          Donna

This is gross, but if the odor is unpleasant it is likely an infection. I had bacterial vaginosis and it took forever to diagnose because there was no odor - they use it as one of the criteria in making the diagnosis. I finally found an infectious-disease gynecologist who diagnosed me. I had an unusual kind of bacteria, and it responded to antibiotics. I had tried changing detergents, all that as well, and was told it was "asymptomatic yeast", all this crazy stuff. You might consider trying to find a gyne with a sub-specialty in infections. Unfortunately most doctors don't do proper testing; they just treat you blindly and that can cause even more problems (believe me I speak from experience). Good luck,L
