  • Yeast infection from ****

This infection seems to be resisting all treatment. Don't think it helps that I had the rectocele surgery while having it but tonight it is keeping me awake. The pain is throbbing down thru my inter thighs and I feel like I am on fire. It's been going on since the 1st of the month and I see my dr on Fri (if I have a mind left). Any suggestions till then? Even the lidocaine isn't touching it. Thankx~t.

Teri, I truly feel for you. Yeast infections SUCK! Maybe you could take one of those Gel-filled icepaks and roll it up in a wash cloth and keep it between your legs. Maybe the cold will numb the area. Just be careful, you don't want frostbite down there! Oh Boy wouldn't that be the kicker! maybe even use a small can of tomato paste that's been in the freezer--perfect size?! ((((((((Teri))))))) I want you to feel better soon! Sending big hugs and warm wishes.....

If you have had a yeast infection before so you're sure --- call your doctor's office and ask for something today.

If you're sure it's a yeast infection, and you've tried all the medications available, I would suggest something like the Dr. Atkins diet for awhile. It's a low-carb diet and works wonders for yeast infection. However, my second point would be -- are you sure it's a yeast infection? One time I was told I had a yeast infection, and after immeasurable suffering, found out that it wasn't a yeast infection. After finally seeing a dermatoligist and being put on the right medication, it was cleared up within a matter of a few days.

If you do know that it's a yeast infection and diflucan or the usual treatments aren't working, you might want to read the book, The Yeast Connection, by Dr. Brooks. You may be eating to many sweets, which feed yeast, or may have some food allergies. Just a thought...

Hey Teri, sorry to hear about this. I had vag and mouth yeast infections this summer that were terribly resistant. It took 4 weeks of diflucan two times a day to finally get rid of it. :::sigh::: what a lousy deal....Love you Julie

Teri: You might also want to try acidophillus capsules or liquid. You can find it at most natural food stores in the
refrigerated section. Acidophillus is a natural bacteria that controls yeast, but
also gets killed off during antibiotic treatments. It works very well for me.
Also, make sure you reduce you sugar intake.
Too much sugar will make a resistant yeast infection even harder to get rid of as sugar
is yeast friendly. I now start right in on
acidophillus just as soon as I know I have
to take an antibiotic. So far..so good, and I am very prone to yeast infections. Acidophillus is the natural bacteria that is in yogurt...but we know that yogurt is a bad idea for most of us with IC.

                Teri,
I hear you well! I'm also suffering from a severe yeast infection that will not go away. It breaks out on my inner thighs and burns all over down yonder. I did 3 days of Diflucan and off for a week did 3 more days and still was there so now I'm doing 3 more days of Diflucan and Terazol3 cream and still not getting the greatest relief. I also have a bacterial vaginal infection and so far two rounds of antibiotic's for that. I feel for you as this has been a constant fight for me since my hyst in Oct 2000. I want rid of those nasty yeasties they are amking me miserable. I just started acidopholus so wait in see I guess. hope you do better tonight.
                God Bless Rene

Do you show any discharge or is it just irritating.I was getting a discharge off and on for a while, would go to dr.and at times i did have one at others times it was negative. One time i was irritated, put ice down there, also. but as far as inner pain in the thigh there is a nerve that runs along there. I learned this from my physical therapist, when Im at Pelvic Floor therapy I can actually feel the pain start in my inner thigh, from doing the exercises. Just curious do you also have trouble with back pain and frequency, more so than actual bladder pain? Book to read, The Yeast Conntection And The Woman.,by william Crooke.

Another positive culture.....and this is after the PA who did the culture told me I was as clear as could be (wish she could live with my crotch for a week)
If I am ever well enough to drive, I'm going to try the acidophillus. Right now all's I'm feeling is discouraged. I'm so tired of it being one thing or another thing teri

My uro also recommended acidophilus as well as suggesting I cut down on the sweets and sugar. The guy in the health food store says the capsules you have to store in the fridge are the best ones and the most effective.
