  • Question if anyone with Vulvodynia has had this

Hi..My question is ..A few months ago I went to my Gyno because of burning ..stinging ..ithing (OMG the itching was bad) well my Gyno did a biopsy of my Volva and it came back abnormal and now I'm going to the Colpo clinic in 2 weeks..I also found out threw blood work she did on Tues. ( My gyno) that I'm in menopause. And that explains my hotflashes.( I'm only 38) I'm also having extreme pain after intercource..Feels like my vagina is contracting..This started months ago..the Dr. says maybe its from lack of use..My poor hubby don't get his way often.. intercourse from the IC is so painful..I hope someone can help me with whats going on.....
    Thanks Brenda

I was going nuts out of my mind with the burning and ithcing and my gyno put me on Neurontin.....I'm so happy to say that it has taken away at least 95% of my misery.

I started at 300mg a day, worked up to 300 2x's, than 300 3xs, than 4 times and I am now taking 400mg 4x's a day. It's a short term acting drug so my vagina literally tells me when it's time to take a pill cuz the burning and itching will start again.

I was using lidocaine and that was 'helping'but it wasn't 'working'. I am so glad that my gyno suggested the Neurontin. I had been on it a year ago for IC pain but didn't realize how much good it was doing until I went back on it after being off of it for a little over 6 months.

    Hope this helps some teri

I was in my GP's office many times thinking I had a yeast infection before I was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis--- I have all the symptoms you mentioned. I also have rediculously painful pelvic exams. I think I probably have vulvodynia, though have never been diagnosed.

Brenda~my gyno hasn't given me the dx of vulvodynia, he thinks everything 'looks' normal. I see him in June and will ask him to do what ever test needs to be done.

What ever it is that's going on, I KNOW that the Neurontin is helping because after about 4 hours the itching and burning start again and within 1/2 a hour after I take a Neurontin, it stops.

          Hope this helps some teri

Hi, I have vulvodaynia and the neurontin helps the IC and the vulvar itching and pain. It is really great and the dizziness for me wore off after about three or 4 mornings . So plan to take it when you can afford to be a little out of it in the AM. I found as the day went on the other doses caused less dizziness. Now it feels fine unless i take it with clebrex and I do get little spacey but not bad!!! i take it 3 times a day but got a prescriptin for 4 times a day just in case. Lucky too as i needed an extra pill last night after a meal out.Who knows what i ate but i flared. The neurontin works! Let us know how you do!! hugs, carolyn

For many month I have the problems you described (Vulvodynia) without knowing that this diagnosis exists at all till last week.
I'm so angry that nobody of the doc's told me. They only made me suspicious, asking me several times "can you still have sexual intercourse". I wondered a lot because I consulted them because of the burning bladder pains... Now I see thanks to you all here!
PLease tell me the contents of NEURONTHIN, in germany must it be another name.
