  • safest lube?

What do you all recommend as a safe lube to use? I can't use Astroglide and am afraid to try others. I have heard good things about Femglide; has anyone else tried it? Has anyone tried plain olive oil? This was recommended by a friend but I haven't tried it.

    Lube

I like using mineral oil. It's easy to find at the store, is inexpensive and effective. I put a towel under me so it doesn't ruin the sheets.

I had a problem with KY jelly in the past but then I got the KY liquid, not the warming stuff just the regular KY liquid and that has worked great for me, no problems from the lub and it def helps with pain, I won't have sex w/o it now

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

I don't have vulv., but I'm allergic to everything + my IC in general gets irritated. I use water based lub. ANY brand, of unscented unadulterated waterbased... which is sometimes hard to find. I can't use any of the oils or I get irritated (allergies) and then flare.

            Lubricants

I have used Aloe Vera Gel, and as silly as it sounds my Vulvar Doc recommends Crisco or vegetable oil.

              Thanks, gals, for the suggestions!

P.S. A friend just recommended Femglide. I think it's mail order only, can't find it in stores.

My doc also said Crisco but I haven't used for sex. I got "Slippery Stuff" in a sex shop it is water based glicerin free lube and it was recommeded by some girls at a IC support meeting. You can also order it online but you'll have to pay shipping.
