  • Just got diagnosis of Vulvodynia and PFD today

    Hi all,

I have had IC since late 2003. I just went to a pelvic pain specialist today in louisville, ky and was diagnosed with the others. I am actually surprised the gyno missed that one. As the vulva is so sensitive it hurts to touch even with a qtip or anything. I am going for an ultrasound next week and physical therapy right after. I will see the doctor next week too to put me on some meds and stuff. The NP gave me a script for some topical cream to put on that area. I am glad I went there I just wish I went there sooner, instead of now. They also said they would not leave me in pain like the uro left me last week because they don't treat pain for IC!?!?!?! If anyone has any suggestions please tell me. I haven't had PT before and I am so hypersensitive that I know it is gonna hurt.

    Thanks,
    Kristin

PT was the beginning of my understanding of IC pain. It helped me immensely and helped me differentiate between bladder, pelvic spasms and referred pain. A lot of my pain in and around the urethra actually was coming from the pelvic floor and once I learned how to move an stretch to activate other muscles it made it go away.
Good luck, stick with it and you may have amazing results.
