I was seeing a specialist in the vulvar clinic at the university of michigan for my VV. They started me back on elavil, hydroxine, neurotin and some creams. My dose of elavil got up to 100 mg/ day but I had to discontinue it. The hydroxine helps with the itching down there. Neurotin didn't help but I'm hoping starting it over again will help. I was up to 1200mg/ 3x day which is the max dose.

my VV is wayy worse than my IC. They developed around the same time. Mine all started with a UTI that never went away. I was on and off antibiotics for 3 years with reccurrent yeast infections. Lidocain does help down there when it itches really bad or hurts. You can also try PT as that is a god send for my VV. I do biofeedback also.

    Elavil

Just got diagnosed with VV. Who really cares at this point - what's another disorder? :-)

I did some reading, and I'm already on Elavil (who isn't?) for the IC. But it looks like Elavil is commonly used for VV too, but differently. Like you step up the dosage to a high dose (like 150?) and then go back down. Instead of just being on a low dose constantly.

Has anyone else done this? I really wish I had a urogynecologist. I feel like a ping pong ball between my uro and gyno!
