Don't go through the internet to get prescriptions. That is not a good idea. You never know what you will get from them.

I don't know how it is in England, but here in the States, when our doctors go out of town or take a day off, there is usually another doctor "on call" who will take his/her patients during that time. Most doctors here have answering services who can give you the number of the "on call" doctor or call for you giving the doctor your number. They may also know how to contact your doctor for you.

Another thing you can do if it is available to you there is...you can take your pills in the original container with you to a walk-in-clinic or ER at a hospital and ask if you can have enough to get you through until you can reach your doctor.

I hope you are able to get what pills you need to carry you through until you can reach your doctor. I know how important Elavil is. That is what works for me and I would be panicking if this was happening to me.

      thank you Sharon!

I dont think we have walk in clinics here but it seems like great idea. At our ER you have to wait on average 5 hours which is a bit of a nightmare!

I will try to ring my GP in the morning and see if they can help.

i just cant believe this is happening! I just hope I can calm down and get some sleep tonight

      thanks again

The ER wait is the same here. Might be worth it, though.

My pharmacy was able to get hold of my doc to get a refill the day before I left town for Christmas vacation -- they are very good at getting hold of the doctors as they have tons of experience in tracking them down! Will your pharmacy attempt this? If not, definitely keep calling your doctors -- Elavil is my life-saver and I found myself in a similar situation, believe me, I was worried too! However, it worked out fine and I'm sure it will work out for you as well -- I did have to take 50 mg one day instead of my usual 75, but it wasn't a problem. I can't imagine that your GP wouldn't give you a few days' worth of elavil, I don't think that it's a drug that is abused often and would raise any concerns. Keep calling and good luck!
