For IC I use Elmiron, Elavil and Freeze dried Aloe Vera (it works likes Elmiron, but naturally)and Azo as needed. I also take Zegerid, Randitine for Barrett's Esophagus. (which causes me to have constant yeast infections!)I take Cymbalta for Neuopathy/Myopathy pain. I use the Climara patch for menopause symptoms. I'm on a very strict diet because of the IC, IBS and Gastric Bypass. I take Primal Defense Probiotics and whole food Iron.
I no longer have the awful urethral pain! I've been using MSM gel now for 4 mo. and haven't had a flare up or the urethra pain.....it's amazing stuff!!:woohoo:
I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.
I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)
Proud wifey of Shane, mommy to Griffin, and step-mom to Logan and Gage
Also proud mom to the best Bullmastiff on earth, Claus
Every now and then I think I have found it....but then it slips out of my hand and rolls in the couch and collects dust rabbits ( to big to be bunnies). I meant to say headed not heard...I am sure you know what I was trying to say.

Joy, I thought I was the only one with dust bunnies. Maybe mine could come over to your place and play with yours? Yupe, I am completly gone. When you start having a second "person" in your mind you pretty much have gone to the loonie side of life. Then it is the only friend I have where I live so at least I am not totally alone and it goes every where I want to go.

You just got me giggling at 3:30 in the morning, LOL!
3:30 in the morning? Why are you up so early? I only got up that early a few times and that was so I could go to auctions way far away. Gee, I thought getting up at 7:00 am today was bad.
3:00am sounds more like bed time for me. LOL As far a the other person in your head and dust bunnies I will send mine to your house for a play date anytime. And theat other person...I have a whole party oning on in mine .

But yeah, I think IC makes everyone a little loony. You'd be abnormal if you weren't mentally affected by it.
Chronic conditions: IC, bipolar disorder, Lown-Ganong-Levine syndrome, Raynaud's disease, bile reflux, scoliosis Current IC treatments: menstrual suppression Daily treatments for other conditions: Neurontin, Zyprexa, Cymbalta, Modafinil As-needed treatments for other conditions: Klonopin, Ambien
Green the Fish, we are mentally affected by this. I never thought of it that way but does make a lot of sense. By the way. How did you come up with your name if it is ok to ask?
Pain and Stress cause a huge amount of damage if not handlled in a timely matter, and for those of us that have pain that isn't controlled... we suffer tremendously, not just physically, but mentally as well.

I'm not exactly sure how I came up with my name. Green has always been one of my favorite colors; I associate myself with it. I remember when I had green streaks in my hair, and later, green tips, I felt the color was pretty "me." I rememebr I used to go by the name Goldfish on a few websites, since I'm a fan of the Goldfish snack crackers. I also hapen to have a pin with a green fish on it. Fish is one of my favorite foods, too. So, I just kind of put together the things that I associate with my personality.
