    i swear with this disease its like one step forward one step backward. an emotional rollercoaster for sure.today was a gloomy day cloudy/rainy and has been making me feel even more depressed..so i decided to do something that would raise my spirits i used to do before ic. took a nice long hot shower,shampooed/conditioned my hair,shaved my legs and used some of my aromatherapy stuff. it helped. im learning i got to start doing more things i enjoy in life and the concept of self love. loving yourself no matter what youre going through..

    Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
    where there is hatred, let me sow love;
    when there is injury, pardon;
    where there is doubt, faith;
    where there is despair, hope;
    where there is darkness, light;
    and where there is sadness, joy.
    Grant that I may not so much seek
    to be consoled as to console;
    to be understood, as to understand,
    to be loved as to love;
    for it is in giving that we receive,
    it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
    and it is in dying [to ourselves] that we are born to eternal life.

          When the weather is lousy here --- and it rains a LOT in Oregon --- I like to plug in a good movie and just relax.

            You are so right about self love! I've always chuckled at those quotes that say, "you can never truly love another human being if you don't love yourself" but they are so true!

            I lost a lot of my self confidence over the past few years and lately I've decided that I need "me" time! My favorite thing to do is spend a few extra minutes in the morning in the mirror saying "I am beautiful". It sounds silly, but it really helps me get into the mindset that I am beautiful. We are all beautiful!

              IC isn't a reason to stop living and self compassion is very important. You can never have too much of that. Everone who gets a chronic disease has some sort of grief reaction due to loss. It is important to go through and feel that to get to an acceptance and new life philosophy. Pain and illness are inevitable. Suffering is optional. It does get better and life can be good.
              What helps
              Elmiron 200 mg bid
              Wellbutrin XL anxiety and depression
              Oxybutynin ER 10 mg
              Yoga

              tried and failed
              Cardura, Hytrin, Flomax, Prosed DS, Vesicare, Pyridium, Cystoprotek (caused GI problems), Lyrica, Pamelor

              "We can't wait until the storm is over. We need to learn to dance in the rain."

                  Just remember you ARE beautiful. Put it on an index card and tape it to your mirror.

                  Let me say it again just so you remember ..

                  YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!
