estradiol patches

i will be having a hysterectomy soon due to uterine prolapse.....anyone had any experience with the hormone replacement patches that contain estradiol? ........thanks

Sorry I do not know about the hormone replacement. I had a hyst. due to uterine prolapse 6 years ago but I did not have my ovaries removed. Good luck with your surgery!

Hi kruriouskate, I wear a hormone replacement therapy patch, Estraderm and I take provera by mouth once a day, and have to change my patches twice a week. I have been on them for many years and really like it. I used to take the pills for both Estrogen and Progesterone but it gave me such bad migraines. I was switched to a while to a patch that has both estrogen and progesterone combined but that did not work for me as I kept having breakthrough bleeding too much, so I was switched back to Estraderm and the Provera by mouth. I have had no problems with it and really like it, hope this helps a little. I do not get any side effects now with it.By the way welcome to a great network, take care Iris hi grouphug

Hi, I had heard about the Vivelle dot, my pharmacist was telling me about it, so much smaller than the regular patch, is that estrogen and progesterone in the same patch? or just estrogen and you take the progesterone in tablet form as well. I know for some reason the two combined in the Combepatch, did not work at all for me, thanks for any info you can give me, take care Iris hi grouphug

Remember that the patches and dots have the same risks that oral estrogen does.

Hi Iris..Vivelle is just estrogen. I have done fine on it. I was on Climara..it's a big patch and dosen't stick well. I broke out from it too. The vivelle it derived from yams and climara from soy. The patch is easier on the liver too. Take care....Flowerchild

Hi and thanks flowerchild for the info, I know the one I was on Combipatch used to leave red marks when I had to change it. I might discuss the Vivelle with my Nurse Practitioner when I go for my IC appointment with her in just over a month again, thanks again, hugs Iris hi kissing
