One of my urologists thought that it was the answer to my problems. He didn't think IC was real though. He had me use Estrace cream. I did it, hoping it was the answer, but I didn't see any improvement. When I found my new urologist, he told me to quit using it. I would still say give it a try though. I read one of the transcripts on this site from a "meet the experts" session and one doctor strongly believed that hormones, or a lack of, were directly related to IC.
Good luck,
Nichole
I know I am better since starting on Prempro.
In fact my IC symptoms got considerably worse just at the same time that my menopause symptoms got worse as well. Hormones, if you are a good candidate, are
worth a try.
The birth control pill really did help me a great deal. Unfortunately, I can't take them anymore because of some other problems I had with them. But, many people take them with absolutely zero side effects.
I think it was the alcohol base in the Estrace cream that flared my urethra, not the hormone itself. I've heard compounding Pharmacies can make creams w/o the alcohols, but I haven't tried it.
