  • Progesterone causing Flares

Does anyone have information on why Progesterone causes flares? I was just told that it does and wanted to read more information on the subject. I also think I need to educate my GYN on this issue because I am on a low estrogen birth control pill that does contain progesterone. I've asked her again and again if the BC Pill is making my IC worse because it seems that the IC went crazy with the start of the pills. I know it's not the cause because I've been going through this for 10 years, but it seems to have made the IC worse for me. Any thoughts?

I have had the same problems with synthetic hormones. Birth control is such. My GYN was COMPLETELY unknowledgeable of my problems and I have had a tough time finding one that is up to date on just about any womens issues let alone one with IC. I finally found a Uro that is up on the latest on IC and the problems with hormones. I am in perimenopause and my IC is much worse with the hormones going like a rollercoaster. Find a GYN that is up on medical tech cause so many still believe we are cattle! Also I find that after trying 2 female gyn's that they were less compassion and caring but the male GYN I have now is outstanding in every way and is interested in working with my Uro.I think in my case IC and hormone problems the GYN and Uro working together is so good!!!

Welcome Cindy, I tried Estrodial patchs. That worked great with me and it is more natural hormone than some other brands. See if that works for you. Also, it is great if you can find doctors that will relate to one another. I found that I had to search out that combo and found it in another city nearby.
