    Heavy Periods

There are other options for you if your main symptom is heavy periods? You could try the medicated Mirena IUD which they use for bleeding issues and it is also a birth control device? There are out patient surgical procedures that can remove the uterine lining and stop periods. Different types of birth control pills can control bleeding.
If they want to use Lupron, it may be they think you have Endometriosis? If thats the case they may try a BC pill first before the shots--hopefully?
For anyone who needs hormone replacement, there are bio identical hormones that are much easier on the bladder and the system than some of the synthetics. The bio identicals also appear to be safer.
Good luck and hope things settle down soon.

Thanks Sammi for the input. I go back in on the 28th and maybe my doc can prescribe something else!

And Red, can you share your experience with me about the Lupron? You can PM me if you'd prefer that. So far I think I'm going to get my period again, and I've been having hot flashes, muscle aches, and strong allergy symptoms. Thanks so much!

I have done Depo Lupron- Yikes!!!

I am so sorry you have to do Depo-Lupron. I've done that, the worst 6 months of my life. I did take some type of genaric hormone replacement, but I don't think the name was Prempro. I was really glad I did take hormone replacement, because I was sooo messed up . It made me very moody, I would laugh, then literaly 3 seconds later would cry. Then laugh again. Honestly it was so bad. I do belive that the hormone replacement made it a lot better than it would have been. The good thing that came out of it though, is if my boyfriend can live with me through menopause. He will be there through anything.
Good luck, and my prayers are with you. Vent here anytime if you need to!!!!!

    Prempo

Personally, I would never, ever take Prempo. I consider it a dangerous, and strong preperation. Prempo consists of Premarin (conjugated equine estrogen or horse estrogen) and Provera.
Prempo was used in the WHI study that was released in July 2002 which indicated that the Prempo group had a higher than normal incidence of blood clotting, breast cancer and cardiovascular events. Because of this high risk, they stopped this part of the study early.
In my opinion it should be pulled from the market along with Provera.

    started a topic Prempro?

    Prempro?

    Hello everyone,
Quick question about Prempro. Is anyone on it? How have you done with it/what side effects have you noticed?

I ask this because I've started Lupron Depot for my abnormally heavy periods and chronic pelvic pain (don't know if I have endo also but doc thinks it's possible). And I'm doing add-back therapy. It feels weird to be only 21 and experiencing menopause. Geez, what a nightmare. I feel for you ladies going through it.

I've had quite a bit of not-so-desirable side effects with the Lupron but I'm crossing my fingers that it will work. I'm not sure if the Prempro has any side effects for me because I started both of these treatments at the same time.

Any help/advice would be great. Thanks!
