Premarin For Thinning Uterus

Well I am on birth control pills but I have been bleeding for 2 months. So my Ob/gyn ordered a ultrasound. Turns out my uterus is thinning. So she wants to put me on premarin for 2 weeks. Will this cause a flare? Thanks

Hi -

You might want to talk to your doctor about using bioidentical estrogen (estradiol). A lot of ICers cannot use Premarin.

Low E

You are apparently low in estrogen that is what your Gyno meant by thining. You could ask for a estradiol patch which is a more natural form of estrogen. Premarin is derived from horse urine and is quite a big stronger than the bio identical estradiol, and not always as well tolerated.
Premarin is metabolized into more estrone per dose than plain estradiol and because of this may or not cause symptoms--you just have to try and see.

I agree with Nancy and Dees.
I take Estradiol and have no problems. Premarin, as Dees said, is made from pregnant mare urine and is pretty strong.
