I have been doing lap swim, and each time afterward, I would start hurting at my lower right abdomial where the leg does meet. Do any one have this problem? I was thinking maybe it is just a pull muscle but then I wonder if I am pulling the muscle to my bladder to much. Surely this can't be because of the hip can it? I don't have problems with the chlorine just the soreness of the abdomial part.

For some strange reason I am doing better in the colder water swimming then I am in the warmer water. Now that puzzles me? Can you believe it, it helps my whole body aches except for the one area.

    Take care, Trishann

Thank you, maybe that is what it is, doing to much at one time. My daughter just taught me how to lap swim so I could be over doing it without realizing it. It is just I am enjoying it so much, and I am taking advantage of it because I don't have good days all the time. It just feels good to be able to do sometimes. I really didn't think I could do this but I am doing it, even though it is not a everyday thing. Some days it is just to much pressure on the bladder and then some days it is not bad. Do you have those days to in the water where it is to much pressure on the bladder? I hoping this is building the muscles around the bladder and it will get better in time. Sorry about all the question, I just wonder if you have that pressure in the bladder at times when you are in the water but does it get better.
I am just happy I can do it when I can and hoping this pain isn't going to be a major problem and in time it will get better. Thank you so much for responding. I am happy that you are enjoying your water exercise too.

      Take care, Trishann

Ronda thank you for letting me know. I will just continue to do it unless it gets to unbearable. Maybe it is something that will work itself out. I will give it some time and try going slower with it.

I am surprised that alot of IC'ers don't have problems with the water pushing against the lower abdominal causing pressure on the bladder. Maybe it is just because of the condition of my bladder. But I really thought all IC'er have this problems, was I wrong. Thanks Ronda for letting me know. We really do learn from each other.

          Take care, Trishann

I swim alot, and the reason I don't have pain there, is because I hate to say this, but i pee in the pool. Sorry

Akrose, I definitely understand why you do. Getting in and out of the pool so many times get so embarrassing that I give up for that day. But I keep going because I do have better days that aren't so bad. I can't just keep quiting everytime something is embarrassing and hard on me, if I do I would be doing nothing.
I am glad you are enjoying the pool too. It is good to hear others keeps pressing in to and not giving up. Thank for letting me know. I hope you continue to enjoy yourself.

I look forward to the pool and getting sun at least 3xwk, especially after a work day. the cool water feels really good. i backstroke about 22 lengths and fell real calm after that. the hardest thing for me is sleeping, i use an ice pack to try to reduce the urgency to urinate, then i count the days till august 17, 2007, when the feeling of urgency will be gone. Eventually after some meds I fall asleep. Have to sleep on a couch, can't lay flat on a bed. thanks trishann

I love swimming and am eagerly waiting for our pool to be warm enough. Hopefully very soon....... We used to have a sign by our pool that said, "There is no P in our OOL --- please keep it that way." When we got our new one, I couldn't find another sign.

Aileen I hope the cystectomy and the urethrectomy surgery will bring ALL that you hope for, especially from all the pain and suffering you have been through.

Of what I have been hearing after the healing process you will be able to still swim, now that is great you will still be able to still swim, and hopefully even be able to enjoy it more.

Not getting enough sleep I do understand, pain pills somewhat helps alittle with it. It is so hard when you don't get enough sleep, your body just can't function normally. Hope you find something that can help you sleep, at least to the day of your surgery, so you can get some comfort.

                      Take care, Trishann

Donna hope your pool will warm up fast so you can enjoy it. I remember as a little girl we had a pool. My brother was a fireman so he used the fire hose to fill it up. My family and friends would go in the pool and swim and I did try. But the water was so bone cold, it hurt my body, so I waited for weeks until it warm up. That water was freezing cold.

ENJOY YOUR POOL AND HAVE A NICE SUMMER,
                        Take care, Trishann

You know Donna, if you encouraged people to pee in the pool it would warm up much faster. I'm sorry, I couldn't help it. No offense to Aileen.
I was born with one ureta not attached to it's kidney, I've been poked and prodded for so long. I never had "private" parts. I had constant infections and took low dose preventive antibiotics into my teens.

DX with IC July 1993 after seeing 3 different Uro's and finally switching Primary care doctors and affiliated hospitals.

I have 2 beautiful daughters, the oldest has been in heaven since she was 14 when she was hit by a car The youngest is 20 now. She has had one UTI. She went into complete panic that she would end up like me. Now she has some idea of what the pain is like. Poor kid has been forced to know where every bathroom in Disney World is.

Our pool is in a plastic greenhouse type dome building, with just enough room at one end to walk around a little --- and it's nice and warm now!
