  • Rephresh tampons

Has anyone else had any luck with the Rephresh brand tampons? My PT gave me a box to try and I won't say they are the most protective tampon I've ever tried but I did in fact have reduced irritation while using them.

If you have not seen them, it is a plastic applicator tampon (regular white bleached fill) with an acidic ingredient added that is supposed to keep your vaginal pH at the level it would be if blood were not taking it to a 7. I thought this sounded like a sure recipe for a stinging disaster and a night of rueful snickering and baking soda baths, but I was very pleasantly surprised at the drop in urethral burning.

Wow, I'll be on the lookout for these. I'm sure my tampons irritated me last cycle. Luckily it was very short. I've been flarey since then, so it could be worth trying. Do they cost much more?

I think they do cost more per box, but I can't remember how much; I'm sorry. I don't use them the whole time so budgetwise it might even out. I noticed my local Wal-Mart carries them now. I will say that these were "debunked" in a women's magazine recently for allegedly claiming to reduce the risk of yeast infection, but the company stated that their claim was to bring pH back closer to normal to reduce discomfort, etc. You might check out their website; maybe they do samples.

I will also say that I have some issues with these for not always...sitting...exactly where I might prefer, which can make them uncomfortable on general principle. But everything with IC and V is trial and error anyway :-)
