  • Hubby wants to quit

    Hey all--

Finally, after 5 years, he promised me he's going to quit smoking!!!! He has tried before, with the gum, the patches, etc. and nothing has worked. The doctor is going to put him on a stop smoking pill...think it's called Zyban or something like that, and as well as an antidepressant for the Obsessive-Compulsive side to the addiction.

My question is, has anyone used that med to quit smoking? If so, did it work?

I'm so happy! And so sick of 2nd hand smoke!! No offense to anyone who smokes, it just makes my nose itch and makes my throat sore and my eyes burn...hate living like that, although he smokes in a different room, but it's not good for me, him, anyone else or the animals for that matter! And I told him that if I can have kids, I am not bringing them into this environment! Plus he has asthma and had a surgery on his nose for a deviated septum, so he can't breath that well as is.

    Hugs and love,
    Jess hi
Mommy to 2 crazy, wonderful kids and wife to the most amazing man in the world!

I have tried to quit too, but like Cindy says it is sooo hard. Jess my hubby has the deviated septum too and cant breathe sounds like he is dying sometimes but keeps on puffing. I hope your husband can have the will power to quit for good. It is a very expensive and crazy habit. I figured it up and we could make a car payment with the money we spend on cigs. Real smart huh? Good Luck !!!!!! LisaK

good luck to your hubby. Nothing has worked for me yet. Except being preg. but that went down the tubes when I lost the baby. When we try again I'll quit, maybe next time for good.

I know people who did quit on Zyban and Wellbutrin. The thing is that the person REALLY has to want to quit or nothing will work.

My husband has been smoke free for 13 long months now.....the first 9 months were the absoluate WORSE months of my entire life wink I am soooooo proud of him and pray that someday I can follow his lead. I know that i've made it so much harder on him but since he quit and I have to limit myself now so I'm not blowing smoke in his face, I've gone from almost 2 pks a day to about 15 cigs a day.........

I have ALWAYS heard that to quit is the hardest thing you can do. Even when I was going to AA meetings 5 times a week, people would say it was harder to quit smoking than to quit drinking....well, I went thru complete hell the first 3 years as a non-drinker and I'm just not ready to battle that right now~

My hats of to all smoker's who have become smoke free

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow".
