YOU CAN DO IT!!! if you do it for two months then you do it for whole life. Just don't think about smoking, try to busy your self whole time.

Whenever you get a real hunger for a cigarette, you might think of how you would feel if you were told you have lung cancer --- or how you would deal with blindness if you develop macular degeneration due to smoking. We have a friend who is now almost totally blind; and his doctor told him it was related to smoking --- this same friend lost his wife to lung cancer in April of 2002.

I thank God every day that he gave me the strength to quit 20 years ago.

    Warm encouraging hugs,
    Donna

Thanks Sandra! Good luck with your quitting and pregnancy tries. The only time I was able to quit quit with no problem was when I was pregnant. All I did was imagine my poor baby inside of me trying to breathe. That ended any cravings I had! Judith

Think of all the money you are saving by not smoking. My husband and I quit over a year ago, and it really adds up. We were able to take a vacation in July from the money we saved. Also, try to think of how much better you will feel. I breath easier now, and don't get out of breath with exertion.

You should be very proud of yourself for making it 2 months. You will make it. Be optimistic.

Thanks Donna, no one around me smokes and really none of my friends smoke, I just encounter at work. I work in a store and there is a bench out front that people use to sit and smoke on. I can't escape it! It does smell awful , but the sick thing is I still want one.
Thanks Kathi for the encouragement. Good for you to not have smoked for 6 months. I am impressed! I have already started to gain wait. It is depressing me. But I suppose it is better to be fat than get some form of cancer. Judith

Just remember --- you have made it for two months! You CAN DO IT!!!!

One awful thing when it hasn't been very long since you smoked is that even breathing the smoke exhaled by smokers can have enough nicotine to keep feeding your addiction. When I quit, I found it was much easier for me if I stayed away from places where there were people smoking. After a while the only feeling I got when I smelled other people's smoke was that it smelled disgusting.

Hang in there. One day you will be totally free of those weeds.

    Warm encouraging hugs,
    Donna

started a topic After 2 months I still want a cigarette

After 2 months I still want a cigarette

It has been two months now without a cigarette. I still want to smoke so badly! When I do smell them they smell so awful and I remind myself that I do not want to smell like an old ashtray, but I still want one! I try to imagine what it is like to smoke and how horrible it will taste, but then I think about how much enjoyment I got from doing it- AAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!
Just had to get this off my chest, Judith
