  • I have been slipping!!!!!

I was doing soooooooo good till I got a little sad over IC> My hubby and I don't say depression we say sad. I was fighting an infection that would go away and come back darn thing would not die. Finally last week my uro put me on strong antibiotics and it seems to be getting better. I have been trying not to reach for them but so hard not to when you just want to scream. I did good yesterday I had four so I am trying for zero today. Thanks for letting me share..God Bless

I am not a smoker, but I have seen how hard it can be to quit. My mother refuses to even try, but my father has managed to quit. If we think our diet is difficult, my father's is worse - he eats so carefully!!! He finally quit smoking a few years ago, and after his emergency bypass he started eating to stay alive. I know he still has the urge for a cigarette - I don't blame him. He has so few "outs" for his stress now.

You are in my thoughts lady pilot, it is a hard battle to fight, but it IS WORTH IT, you are worth it.

    Hugs,
    Liisa

      lady pilot,

Don't consider this little slip as defeat. You can still do it! I quit 3 1/2 years ago, and I had an overwhelming urge for a cigarette this weekend. I received some upsetting news and was mad enough to spit nails! I paced the house wishing for a cigarette. I finally asked myself if having that cigarette would change the outcome of the upsetting situation and realized it wouldn't. So instead I took the dog for a walk.

I know how it feels!!! I am trying to quit. I was just diagnosed with IC a couple of weeks ago. Since then I have been trying to quit. I am cutting down and am now down to about a half a pack. I am having a hard time too. Stress does not make for good quitting conditions but we CAN do it. I will be praying for all of us who are trying to quit. Keep the faith. Nancy :p

It took me several years to manage to quit. The one thing I found out is that what I have is an addiction --- even being in a room with someone who's smoking triggers a reaction in my body (now it just makes my nose burn and is very unpleasant).

What I found out was that as long as I was smoking even one cigarette --- the nicotine was staying in my body, fueling the addiction. I finally managed to quit with Nicorette gum. and it took me six full months to wean myself away from that drug source too.

Warm encouraging hugs to all of you.
