  • Headed to Missouri for Vacation

Hey everyone. My husband and my parents and brother are all going to Missouri for vacation together. My parents were going to take my little brother for the summer cause there was nothing for him to do. He's 15 and the last one at home. So he said it wouldnt be any fun without me. Well I told hubby bout it and if he could take leave from the military and come and go for a week...and he did. So this is a great time since he just returned from the Middle East for 6 months and to spend some fun time together. So were going to Branson to Silver Dollar City. Im really excited, we leave Saturday morning and should be back Thursday. I'll let you all know how everything goes when we get back. Take care !

I've never been there, but it's a popular spot for a lot of people who live in Oregon.

Hope you have a wonderful time!

Hey everyone. We got back from vacation yesterday afternoon. We had alot of fun and got to do alot of neat things. I had a couple of flares during the trip but I took my meds and just rested...they didnt last very long, just a little after I used the bathroom. So all in all it was a blast. I took lots of pictures, and we all enjoyed ourselves. Take care.

Yes we did have a good time. And Im glad to be back as well. Oh sounds like your going to have alot of fun at California at your daughters wedding. Tell her congratualations from me. Those 3 weeks will fly by. Yes pack all your meds and IC emergency stuff, I was walking around some of the time with a backpack weighed down with everything. lmao But when a flare came on and tried to ruin my vacation, out came the pyridium. Well I wish you well on your upcoming trip and I wish your daughter the best ! Take care

Hi Alison thanks a lot for the good wishes to my daughter Karen, I will certainly pass them on. Yes I am getting really excited now about the trip as some of our relatives live in California we have not seen in a while and they will be coming so it will be like a family reunion. One thing I wanted to ask you, or any one of the gals that has been on a fairly long car trip, do you find the vibration bothers you long distance and if so did you take a cushion, or I believe there is a special type cushion we can get? Would be glad of any advice re the car trip. I am taking everything IC wise with me, that is the only question I had. We have a Subaru Legacy station wagon, so its a comfortable car, but as it is a fairly recent purchase have not been on a long trip in it, thanks again Alison for the well wishes and take care, hugs Iris hi kissing

                    Iris ~

Hey there. Oh I bet it is really exciting getting ready for the wedding and plus going to Cali to see all your family that you havent seen in awhile, that will be nice. Well I have rode on car trips all through IC...we drive to Tx from Ks alot cause thats where we are orginally from so it can get kinda bothersome at times. But usually the vibrations get to me when we stop to use the bathroom and it flares a little afterwards and then the movement/bumps in the road aggrivate it then. Some say they bring a pillow on trips and yes there is a special kind of cushion you can get...they say it looks like a do-nut...but I find soft cushions while flaring makes me worse...dont ask why ! lmao Cause I have no idea but I find that out. But I just take water and drink alot cause eventually it makes me feel better and meds are a must have ! I hope you dont experince any flares on your trip at all. How long is the drive from Washington to California ? Are you staying there for awhile ? But one thing I dont like....I like going to see family and taking vacations and all, but it just seems like if Im getting a flare or getting sick at all.... I just want to be home. Hehe I just feel better when Im in my own surroundings...do you ever feel that way ? Well I hope you have a nice and safe trip, and the best wishes to your daughter Karen. Take care !

I have a pillow from the IC Network shop --- actually I have two --- one goes with me in the RV or in the car, the other lives at my computer. I think pillows are absolutely essential for long trips.

                      Hugs,

Hi Alison, thanks for the info and Donna about the cushion, I did go ahead and order one from the ICN shop and will try it out. I also have found a little back pack that I have and I am going to put all my IC equipment, medication and little heting pads and anything else that I use when a flare hits. The trip will take us about 8 hours from Washington state, we live about an hour south of Seattle, and my daughter has been great and has let me know all the bathroom locations on the way down, in fact he and Troy her fiance went down this weekend to tie up loose ends. I am really looking forward to that as they have chosen their own wedding ceremony, vows and thereis a really special par where her Dad and I can say things to the two of them, I know I will have to have a box of tissues near by. By the way I am taking my portable CD player and headphones for the trip as I know certain music relaxes me and I do have so exercises I can do that will help me to stress less as they say. Great to hear from you. I am just keeping my fingers crossed and touching wood, watching the diet, cause I do not want one of those banghead banghead toilet wretched flares hitting me at such a special time, but if it does I will just choose to ignore it and enjoy myself, IC is not going to win grouphug Iris

Hi Alison its me again, I did not answer a couple of questions, I do feel like you and stay myself in my own surroundings like you said I feel more comfortable, but we are only going to be gone for three days. Our son is flying in on Thursday evening from Ohio, and then we are leaving here on the Friday morning and getting down there I would say late afternoon, me and my bathroom stops, I do have some Travel Johnnies and a couple of coffee cans with lids, for when we go through the mountains after Grants Pass in Oregon, where my daughter was letting me know it is curvy Mum and no bathrooms, bless her heart, and then Friday night we have a rehearsal thing and dinner with everyone and then they are being married in The Cathedral of Trees in the redwoods, a lot of weddings are performed there evidently, please pray for no rain. Saurday is the big day at 3.30 in the afternoon on the 23rd, and then the reception afterwards at a lodge, and then Sunday we are driving back home, my son leaves on the Monday back to Ohio. The newly weds are coming back here for a couple of daays to rest up and then fly out to Hawaii for a couple of weeks, he has two homes there which is nice for them. Now I think I have finished, me and my ramblings, hugs again Iris hi

                            Hi Iris ~

I also went and bought me a little drawstring backpack to put everything in.....but on the water rides, everything seemed to get a little wet. So the next day......plastic bags to the rescue, the first time, some of my pyridium ruined. Good thing for the travel johns and coffee cans for the mountains, I remember going up in the Colorado mountains, I didnt have this at that time though. You'll have a great time with everyone and their honeymoon sounds really great ! The ceremony will be really pretty. Take lots of pictures. Take care !

Hi Alison that is a great idea about the backpack, I knew I had one somewhere at home, and I found it today, in fact I have already started putting a few of the necessary IC things in it, a great idea as I have so many other things to take down there and this way everything is in one place and handy to get to, I will take lots of pictures and hope to get some digital ones so I can post them in the IC photo forum that Gwyn started, take care Iris hi
