  • I made a car trip!!!

I'm still in shock! The other night Mike and I went out with some friends for what was supposed to be "one drink". Well, we ended up walking home at midnight after "several drinks", most of which were OJ and peach tree and Vanilla Vodka Cokes. I started to pee every 5 mins, but it only lasted for about 30mins.
The next day I felt fine! Figured I'd be in flare city from all the no-nos, plus with weaning myself down from the meds I haven't been feeling all that great anyways So, then we went and ate a huge dinner and chocolate cake at grandmas. Then we get home and Mike says "lets go out to eat with some friends". They wanted to go about an hour car ride away! I haven't made a car ride for more than 15mins with anyone but Mike or my mom or very best friend. Car rides kill me!!!! So, I freaked, got all nervous, went, ate another huge dinner, had a daquari, and still made the car ride home with no stops!!!!!!! There were a few times on the way home that I was really uneasy and thought we were going to have to make a pit stop on the highway, but I calmed myself down, ate a mint (LifeSavers Wintogreen Mints-I eat a bag a day, they really calm down my stomache) and I was fine!
I hope that someday we will all have this experience all the time. I just keep telling myself that it takes these little baby steps to prove that I can get better.

That's awesome Leah!!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: That gives me hope. My family lives about an hour and a half away in Baltimore and I have been scared to go and see them for fear of having to stop over and over again to pee or that I won't drink water so that I won't have to pee which will cause burning and a flare.

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

Also proud mom to the best Bullmastiff on earth, Claus

                that is just wonderful.:woohoo: :woohoo:

I have to go to Houston (which is about 3 hours from home, of course, that depends on how many stops we make!! Hopefully not too many. ) For my Nieces graduation from University of Houston she will be the first to graduate from anything besides HS so we will be there with bells on coming mid May.

:woohoo: So glad for you! I recently went to NYC, but b/c of the drive (6 hours there) I flared and had to stick to the diet the whole time I was there. But I didn't end up staying behind at the hotel ever! I understand how these things can feel like a HUGE accomplishment! I hope someday I will be able to have a "grown up" drink again! Heck, even the OJ sounds good right now! It's been 7 months since I tasted citrus!
