  • 'Tis the season!

Spring is here and it's time to be thinking about summer vacations. I think it would be fun and helpful to share vacation ideas and hints to make it a wonderful summer.

One thing I make sure we do is to take along IC friendly snacks and plenty of bottled water to drink.

I can't wait to take Lindsey to Walt Disney World again and all of the parks in Orlando. I take along alot of IC friendly drinks because the humidity in FL still kills me!

This summer my sister and I are going to take her Grandchildren (ages 2 &5 to Sea World in San Antonio,TX) - we did that a few years ago (minus the 2 year old. so it should be interesting with 2 of them now.

I am going camping next weekend. I am taking a lot of drinking water, heating pad, and pain pills, and wearing comfortable clothing. I am looking forward to be outside most of the time without tv, phones, computers and all the stuff and just enjoy the creation of outside.

          Sending hugs, Trishann

My husband and I are leaving early in the morning for Nebraska (we live in Houston, TX. but I'm from Nebraska and that's where my family lives) So on Sunday we are planning on showing up at my son's house to surprise my 8 yr old granddaughter....she's gonna love it! I haven't seen her in 2 yrs so it's going to be a great visit.
I just packed my Azo and all my IC and other meds.....Lord knows that takes a whole suitcase all to it self!!
I hope everyone can take time to get away this summer....even if just for a few days and relax.
Two months ago my husband and I drove 30 miles to a small city north of Houston and stayed at a motel there and just enjoyed that city......for a change. It was great and we didn't have to drive very far to do it!

I'm on a very strict diet because of the IC, IBS and Gastric Bypass. I take Primal Defense Probiotics and whole food Iron.
I no longer have the awful urethral pain! I've been using MSM gel now for 4 mo. and haven't had a flare up or the urethra pain.....it's amazing stuff!!:woohoo:

It IS a small world! We are going to Lincoln and Fremont. I'm from Lincoln and lived for 17 yrs in Greenwood (which is half way between Omaha and Lincoln on Hwy 6). My son and his family live in Fremont which is north and east of Lincoln. I miss Nebraska....but don't miss the bad winters! I've lived in Texas for 13 yrs now and love the weather here.
Donna what town did you grow up in?

I will be going with son (9) and my friend and her son (who is Trent's best friend) to our condo in Panama City. We have a great time sitting on the balcony looking at the ocean, playing on the beach with the boys and just getting away. When I got divorced, in the settlement I get to use the condo all I want, and not have to pay for the upkeep, good deal huh?

Although, last year, our trip back home usually a 7 1/2 hr. trip turned into a 11 hour trip due to two major accidents that left us stranded on the interstate for hours, I was flaring so bad and had not brought enough pain meds that we couldn't opt for getting hotel we had to get home. I learned my lesson, this year she says I am to take all of my meds, and then some, ha ha, I was a total b****, but we are great together, because she just listened and didn't get her feelings hurt. It is great to have friends like that.

I know that we're taking a day trip to Seasame Place for Griffins 3rd birthday. Hubby wanted to do it last year but I said I thought he was too young, he said there is no way I'm talking him out of it this year, we're going! lol We don't really have anything else planned as money can be tight with 4 kids. I'm sure Griffin will love it though.

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

I'm sure he will like it, I hope my bladder will behave so we can spend a full day there because it's expensive as heck to get in there.
