  • Need to find God again

    I'm going through a hard time at the moment and have posted my story under the Depression section. I feel somehow abandoned by God and need to try and find God again. Please could you keep me in your prayers that I find God again and find some meaning in my suffering. I can't make sense of why my health is deteriorating and am trying to figure out whether it is part of God's plan. I need to have God be with me each day but it is hard. I have prayed and prayed for healing but it hasn't come. Just more complications with my health. I guess my faith was not strong in the first place but it was there previously. Now I am having trouble believing in God at all. Do you think God has heard my prayers for healing?

    Thank you for your prayers.

    George

    I will keep you in my prayers.....

    Yes I do believe that God answer's all prayers. Sometimes it might not be exactly what we wanted but he does. Even during the hardest of times I truely believe he his by our side. At times I wonder why God chose me to deal with this horrible disease, but I feel he has some plan for me, I might not know what it is right now, but one day we will.....
    God grant me the serinity to withstand the days ahead!!!

      I will definatly pray for you. I believe God has heard your prayers. I think that God tries to do things that help us but there is evil in the world...and if evil feels threatened by your faith or for other reason may keep the struggle of good vs evil strong in a persons life. That doesn't mean you deserve it or that your faith is lacking. Evil often goes after those that are the most faithful...it is a burdan but if you stray strong God can help you through all that evil does and turn the things around.

      I will pray for you. I know your feelings well. God Bless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        I'll pray for you, George. I'd like to include a couple of prayers that have been helpful to me in different spots on my journey.

        Father,

        You help me relax.

        My body may be tired, but spending time with You always leaves me feeling more awake and alive. I can relax in the comfort of Your Spirit and the security of Your acceptance. The weariness of motherhood fades away as You rock me in Your arms. Your words are like a lullaby to my soul. My loving Father, come to Your child now. I need to know You're close. I need to know that I'm not doing this alone.

        Amen.
        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        Father,
        You are the great Physician.
        You know me inside and out. You created my body and only You know how to heal it perfectly. That's what I'm praying for, Father. I know that physical healing isn't always the answer to that prayer, but it is the longing of my heart. And I know the cries of the heart rise to Your throne. Please bless me with the healing I long for. Give me relief. Help me rest in Your healing hands.
        Amen.
        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        Father,

        You are the Worker of miracles.

        You have made the blind see, the deaf hear, the dead rise again. You can heal broken bodies, broken hearts, and broken bones. You have the power to make every area of my life whole and healthy. I'm trusting You to heal me in the way that brings the most glory to You, in Your time and in Your way. That isn't easy to say, Lord. But I want to be wholly Yours. Only You know what that really looks like.

        Amen.
        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        Father,
        Your love encourages me to keep going.
        It's easy to give up when life hurts. That's what I want to do right now. I'm tired, discouraged, and longing to be somewhere, anywhere, other than here. But I know You've placed me here for a season of my life. That's reason enough for me to stay. But I want to do more than just go through the motions. I want to put my whole self into what You have for me today. Energize me with Your love.
        Amen.
        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        Father,

        You have a plan for me.

        Nothing happens to me that You don't know about. Right now I don't understand Your plan for me; it hurts too much to even try. But I trust in Your love. I know You're leading me toward a future that You alone have designed to draw me closer to You. You know that's what my heart truly longs for. Help me not to lose hope when life hurts, but instead help me catch sight of Your hand in the midst of all things.

        Amen.

        Dear God,
        I feel such pain, anxiety and depression.
        I know this is not Your will for me, and yet my mind is held in chains by fear and paranoia.
        I surrender my life, right now, to You.
        Take the entire mess, all of it, now too complicated to explain to anyone but known by You in each detail.
        Do what I cannot do.
        Lift me up.
        Give me a new chance.
        Show me a new light.
        Make me a new person.
        Dear God,
        This depression frightens me.
        Dear God,
        Please bring me peace.
        Amen.

        Current IC meds: Elmiron (since 2001), Levaquin (one pill after intercourse to prevent UTIs), Effexor (for depression & anxiety)

        Past IC meds: Amitriptyline (Elavil), Hydroxyzine (Vistaril), Detrol LA, Lexapro (for depression & anxiety, but also helped my IC) (They all helped, but I was able to discontinue them.)

        I've been virtually symptom free and able to eat & drink whatever I'd like for about 8 years now.

                Dear George,
                I went through a very dark time when I first got IC. I could not understand why I could not feel God's presence at a time I needed Him most. One thing I have learned since then, is that when a person is in extreme pain, whether physical, emotional, or both, it is very hard for him/her to hear God's voice or feel His presence. The pain feels like it drowns Him out. That does not mean that God isn't there, though.

                I believe that God is always with us, that He never leaves us, but that we don't always feel it or understand it. For now, each day, sometimes it is all we can do to hold on to His promises...

                Do you have a church that you go to? Or a particular faith that you follow? People who can pray with you? Those things can help too...

                Wishing you better days soon...
                Kadi

                      Also Known As "I Had a Dream"

                      One night I dreamed a dream.
                      I was walking along the beach with my Lord. Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonging to me and one to my Lord.

                      When the last scene of my life shot before me I looked back at the footprints in the sand. There was only one set of footprints. I realized that this was at the lowest and saddest times of my life. This always bothered me and I questioned the Lord about my dilemma.

                      "Lord, You told me when I decided to follow You, You would walk and talk with me all the way. But I'm aware that during the most troublesome times of my life there is only one set of footprints. I just don't understand why, when I need You most, You leave me."

                      He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you, never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you."

                      George this is one of my favourites, hope it helps,

                        Martha, thank you for that. I was very touched by it. It made me cry. I am trying to see God through this suffering and desperately want to believe He is there.

                          Hi George,
                          Perhaps in you God sees a very strong and courageous person, stronger than you may think or feel you are at this time. In this way, He is honoring you. After all,the Bible tells us that God will never give us more than we can handle. He sees in you a strong person. Even though we've never met, it is easy to see from your posts that you have great strength. Many people would not be strong enough to keep hope like you have. Strength is a quality most people strive for, and it is highly valued in our society. You are a remarkable person!

                          God promises to always be with us and encourages us to not be scared but courageous. Even when complications arise, remember that He is in control.

                            Many prayers for you, George.

                            There is evidence that people who are ill can be helped by prayer (even from people who they don't know who are praying for them) so hopefully all of this prayer from us on the boards will be of benefit to you!

                              Many thanks July and Poetgirl. I appreciate your prayers. Maybe prayers are being answered. I am trying to take a day at a time. My own prayers are very very hesitant at the moment but I am trying to open up some sort of dialogue with God. I guess that is one step further than I was a few days ago when I felt abandoned by God. I truly do appreciate everyone who has sent me a reply and pm. It is giving me encouragement to keep on trying with God.
