  • Please pray for my cousin

She was diagnosed a few days ago with colon cancer. Went in for a routine cystoscopy and comes out with a diagnosis of cancer. She had no symptoms or anything. Anyway, please pray for her. She is the caregiver for her 80 year old mother (my aunt) who is in poor health too.

My cousin was told the cancer is either stage 2 or 3 and that she will have radiation/chemo for 5 weeks then will have surgery to remove the tumor and 12 inches of her colon.

Please keep her and my aunt in your prayers.
And she told me to tell everyone I know . . . get that first colonoscopy if you have been putting it off.
    hugs,
    Janie

I will keep your cousin and your family in my prayers

They have come a long way in treating cancer and I pray that your cousin beats this colon cancer.

Dear Janie, I will pray for your cousin tonight. I am so sorry to hear about your terrible news, but don't despair, Dear. There have been a lot of successful cases where the colon has to be removed and the patients live on to long and happy lives. I had 12 feet of my colon removed when they botched my hysterectomy 14 years ago. You can read my profile on line. Just want you to know that you are not alone tonight, we are there for you and I believe in miracles and that God hear's our prayers.
God Bless & keep you with him, and those you love,
        Curlette
        Hugs,
        Curlette

        Drugs I use now:
        HM Contin 12mg twice daily
2 mg Dilaudid for breakthrough pain
        Temazepam for sleep
        CES orally

Drugs I have used in the past:
        Elmiron
        Elavil
        Gabapentin
        Vagifem
        Lomotil
        Ativan
        Buscopan
        Demerol
        Flexeril
        Way too many to list!!!!!

        Medical History:
Have had L4 laminectomy, L4,5 & S1 discectomies, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, gall bladder removed, nasal surgery for accute sinusitis, severe, endometriosis resulting in a total hysterectomy. Also diagnosed with IC, IBS, severe spinal stenosis, severe osteo-arthritis, I wear hearing aids in both ears due to an earlier "abusive marriage". I have Hepatitis C Type 1b, have had this for over 3 decades, this has affected my liver and immune system. Had a blood tranfusion when I was in the Middle East and we think that I got the Hep C at that time. They buy the "blood" there, and as it was so many years ago, they didn't even know the disease existed.I have lost over 60 lbs since my botched hysterectomy where they had to go in again and remove 4 feet of my colon where they had mistakenly stapled it through. I've shrunk from 5'9 to 5'6 because of the osteoporosis. When they first diagnosed me with IC, they found out that my bladder is only 40% the size of a normal bladder, which explains why I have to pee so often, even aside from the IC! I Have had two hydrodistentions, so far, but will need more on a regular basis. We all need to have faith that they will find a cure soon.
I believe that if we can reduce our stress, learn better ways to cope, we may have a better chance of dealing with this!!!

Thank you everyone, This has really been an eye opener for me. My cousin has always eaten healthy foods, kept her weight down, and exercised. She was the last person I thought would get this at a relatively young age (52). Hopefully, she will make a full and complete recovery.
              hugs,

                    Christine

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

Proud wifey of Shane, mommy to Griffin, and step-mom to Logan and Gage
Also proud mom to the best Bullmastiff on earth, Claus

I am so sorry to hear about your cousin's illness. I will pray for her, your aunt, and the rest of your family. I know cancer is such a scary word, but there have been great strides recently. My cousin had Stage 4 cancer and was given weeks to live. That was 4 yrs ago. She has been in complete remission for the past three! The cancer had spread all over. There was no hope except thru the power of prayer, and that's exactly what did it! I will join the others in prayer for your cousin, aunt, and your family.

                      Hugs,
                      Amy

My cousin found out today that the cancer is stage three and in her lymph nodes. Thank you Amy for your optimistic words and the story of your friend with stage cancer who has recovered. My cousin is a devout Christian and has unshakeable faith so I pray that she'll be healed.
                          hugs,
