  • My Mom's Starts Cancer Chemotherapy Thursday

My Mom starts Chemo on Thursday. She will be having it for 20 weeks of Chemo. Then a Lumpectomy/Mastectomy. Then they do Radiation. It will be a about a year total. Her lymph nodes were positive. She is 56. My Sister gets Married June 1st.

We are very scared about her health and well being at this time. We are trying to remain positive but our fears are human. It's been healthy for us to talk about everything each step of the way. Our family is a big "talking it out family."

                  Kara,

I totally agree with LeeLee. If she even 1/2 as much courage and strength as you do, she will be just fine. She sounds like she does! I will pray for you guys. Talking it out is great. I will keep you in prayer as always, but add your mother and family too.

                    Kara,
I will keep you and your mother in my thoughts and prayers. Everyone is right, you obviously got that strength of yours from someone, but it was your mother.
                    Christine

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

Proud wifey of Shane, mommy to Griffin, and step-mom to Logan and Gage
Also proud mom to the best Bullmastiff on earth, Claus

Kara, I'm thinking of you and your mom during this tough time ... but I'm thinking since you share your genes with your mom, she's probably just as strong as you are, so things will go well

Sending along hugs from me, and headbutts/purrs from Paddington!
