  • mom is in kidney failure

My mom went to the kidney specialist today, she is in the end stage 3 of kidney failure. Her kidneys are only working at less then 30 percent. He is going to do all kinds of blood work and is talking dyalisis.
He told her, with having IC, high blood pressure and diabities that what happens is the bladder has become so small that the urine backs up, back into the kidneys and causes them to shut down.
my mom is so upset, and I am too.. please keep her in your prayers.

Oh no Cindy. I'm so sorry. I will keep both of you in my thoughts
    Christine

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

Proud wifey of Shane, mommy to Griffin, and step-mom to Logan and Gage
Also proud mom to the best Bullmastiff on earth, Claus

It sounds like she'll be on dialysis soon. Thankfully, it can be very successful these days. I know about one guy who farms and is able to do all of his farm work in spite of having to spend one half day a week on a dialysis machine. And some people can even do it at home if they have a good support system.

I know it's serious, but I just wanted to let you know there is hope.

      Warm hugs,
      Donna

        Hi Tig.
Sorry about you mom. My Aunt also had diabetes and her kidney stopped working well (she was born with only 1 kidney). She did well on dialysis for a long time. I know this is rough for your mom and for you to watch her going through this. You are both in my prayers.
