  • Pray requests and cheerful thoughts needed!

I was laid off a week ago Monday due to my boss not managing his money. I knew it was coming and he was depressed about it. I worked in a small insurance office and when I got into work that Monday, he was there which was very unusual. He normally didn't come in until 11:00 and left for lunch and maybe came back in the afternoon. He definitely ignored his office and business to the point that he was borrowing money to pay his bills, etc. He said that he had to let me go since I was the last hired. I know that he is upset about it, but when he made a comment that he had to let me go so he could help out with his family. His 25 year old son was fired the week before, so that was an added financial burden on him.

Anyway...while I didn't make a whole lot of money. He is still going to pay me on the 15th for my vacation time that I never used as well as my bonus if he has the money. He said that my bonus may have to wait until the end of the month. I also feel sorry for my co-worker. She is young, my son's age and she has been with my former boss for 4 years and has been through his money woes so many times. He owes her quite a bit in commission.

My son is getting married in a little more than a month. He graduates in May and he and his fiance are moving to Alabama. She is also graduating with a nursing degree and already has a job. My son is graduating with his degree in secondary education. He worked with the women's basketball team through college, so he has a few contacts for jobs. So my prayer is that he finds a job that he loves as well.

I certainly know that God has a plan. I have already sent my resume to a contact I have with the Women in Insurance here locally. She emailed me today that she has a couple of job possibilities that I qualify for. My father in law is a retired insurance agent and has been looking around for another job with the company. I told him that I really don't want to work in another agent's office where I am expected to sale as well as service. Most of the time the agents don't have enough staff to do both. I have mainly a claims background. I was a claims adjuster for about 16 years. I want to be back in a large office and have a job that has structure.

Please keep me in your prayers. My body is feeling the stress of all of this and I am trying to get myself out of this funk. I did manage to wash clothes and do a few things around the house. I walk with either my hubby or one of my friends several times a week which helps alot.

Thanks so much for reading my "novel".

Status: Diagnosed October 2006 via cystoscopy with hydrodistention. Max anesthetized bladder capacity only 250 cc's. Mast cells and pinpoint bleeding found.

Remission for me means less pain for more days than not. Frequency is inevitable with a bladder this tiny! That is ok though. The difference between when I was diagnosed and now, is that I have embraced that fact. Me and the loo, we are one.

        Tracey,
I'm so sorry that you lost your job. I hope you find another one soon and get paid all of the money that you are owed.
        Christine

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

            Jen

*Diagnosed with severe IC in 2004
*Also diagnosed with PFD, fibromyalgia, chronic myofascial pain, IBS, migraines, allergies/asthma, dermatographism
*Kept trying a million different treatments for all these things until I found what works, and I am doing okay these days with the help of a cocktail of medications and the InterStim, which was first placed in 2007. [I have had 2 revisions - one in 2010 when my battery died and had to be replaced, and one complete replacement (lead and generator) in 2012 after a fall on my stairs caused my lead to move.]
*Current meds include Atarax (50mg at night), Lyrica (150mg twice a day), Xanax (0.5mg at night and as needed), Zanaflex (4mg at night), hydrocodone (10/325, every 6 hours as needed), Advair, Nasonex, Singulair (10mg at night), oral contraceptives, home instills containing Elmiron and Marcaine (as often as I need to do them).

**I am not a medical authority nor do I offer definitive medical advice. I strongly encourage you to discuss your medical treatment with your personal medical care provider. Only they can, and should, give medical recommendations to you.
