  • Friends husband

Just found out that a friend who recently went though a double mastectomy (thankfully she is fine, no problems) her husband had back surgery about a week later - he is now going thru more back surgery tomorrow as his spinal cord is leaking fluid. When I first read this e-mail from her sister, I thought poor Shari, as her husband had a heart transplant about 15 years ago, and has been on his last "leg" for the last handful of years and if you knew what went through my mind! This lady is an inspiration to me and her friends. She just keeps on going. Please pray for her and her husband. Thanks.

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

My grandmother had a double masectomy a couple of years ago and is doing fine. She and my grandpa have been together for over 60 years. They are very inspiring people too!

Sorry I am late reading this. But, I hope that his surgery went well. It sounds like they have had a very rough time lately. I am sure that having a friend like you has been an invaluable source of strength and support. I hope that they both improve and recover rapidly.

          Hugs,
          Amy
