  • Fiances Nephew Going to Iraq

    We got a call about an hour ago from my fiances sister. It was late when she called. She asked if he was there. I said he was sleeping. I could tell something was wrong so I asked. She said "Nick is going to Iraq". So I ran to the bedroom and handed Jerry the phone. I sat there for a minute while he listened. I dont think she said too much. Jerry just said he would talk to her in the morning. He squeezed my hand then rolled back over.

    Im freaking out! I called my best friend and she calmed me down. When I know more, Ill post it. He wont even be 19 till later this month. So young! Please pray for our family!

    Unfortunately this is where alot of our military personnel will eventually end up. While its certainly scary and nerve-wrecking for the loved ones sitting safely on U.S. soil, I'm sure those enlisted wouldnt have it any other way. They joined the Armed Forces to protect and serve our country and at current time, duty calls.
    Having said all of that, i'm sure your future sister inlaw is beside herself with worry. I would also bet that she's extremely proud of her son and the job that he's trained do.
    I'm from a very large military town and deployments are a very frequent occurance here. Rest assured that without the brave souls such as this young man, we wouldnt have the freedoms we take for granted today.

    Wishing him a safe deployment!
    God Bless him and the USA.....

                I'll pray for him.

                We ask God for his promises in Psalm 91:
                1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
                Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
                2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
                My God, in Him I will trust.”

                ...
                5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
                Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
                6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
                Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

                7 A thousand may fall at your side,
                And ten thousand at your right hand;
                But it shall not come near you.
                8 Only with your eyes shall you look,
                And see the reward of the wicked.

                9 Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge,
                Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
                10 No evil shall befall you,
                Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
                11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,
                To keep you in all your ways.
                ...
