  • prayers over job

    I and 4 other contractors may be laid off by Sep 30. I have been with the same company since Aug 14 2001. Actually I didn't even get my college degree till Aug 18 2001. So I was very lucky to get a job so quick after graduating from college. I started off as the company receptionist. Then in June 2002 I got a Dept of Justice position in DC. I'm a contractor with DOJ. I am a Geographic Information Systems analyst. Redistricting plans are coming like crazy. So to get rid of 5 of us will be bad. Other companies are trying to get the contract, so whoever wins, they can hire all 5 of us, or whoever wins may want to hire 5 new people. Please pray that nothing happens to 5 of us. I'm very happy with my job. It shows right? Nearly TEN years with the same company. I started at age 23, and I'm now 33.

    Not sure if I can post this, but it talks about what I do.

    Praying that your job will be saved or God will bring you something even better!
    Elinor

    I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
    That I would see the goodness of the Lord
    In the land of the living.
    Wait on the Lord;
    Be of good courage,
    And He shall strengthen your heart;
    Wait, I say, on the Lord!

        Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
        where there is hatred, let me sow love;
        when there is injury, pardon;
        where there is doubt, faith;
        where there is despair, hope;
        where there is darkness, light;
        and where there is sadness, joy.
        Grant that I may not so much seek
        to be consoled as to console;
        to be understood, as to understand,
        to be loved as to love;
        for it is in giving that we receive,
        it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
        and it is in dying [to ourselves] that we are born to eternal life.

              I'm sorry you're in this situation. Knowing there's a possibility of lay-off must be very stressful, especially so when you like your job.

              I hope everything works out okay for you!

                No sorry I don't have facebook. I don't think I will get laid off or either of the 4 people. DOJ would be dumb to get rid of us due to the new Census that is out. But my project manager told me that he can always put me on another contract. So I can always move closer to home and avoid the subway fares. That would be great. I already pay $300 a month on subway fares. It's $10 round trip on the subway per day. It's $4.75 to park on the subway parking lot each dad. It does add up. Plus if I leave DC after 430pm, then it's $5.20, instead of $5.00. The metro does this 20 cent fare increase between 730am-9am, 430pm-6pm.

                Thanks all for your prayers.
