  • Brothers Benefit dinner restore faith

I didnt know where to post this, but even when the world seems hopeless something nice happens and restores your faith in human beings again. My brother who has been battling cancer and under going chemo and 2 stem cell transfusion, by the way is finished with the protocol, in one month he goes back to have tests run to see if it all worked please say a prayer.Anyway a benefit dinner was held in his honor to help with the financial end of it. The support was unbelievable.Everything from food to raffle gifts were donated. The generosity was overwhelming. Also a band donated their time to perform. Needless to say the night was a success. Unfortunately my brother couldnt be there, but a video tape was made of him, thanking everyone. His spirit through this has been tremendous. Our family has become so much closer because of all this. My sister and brother who havent talked in yrs made amends. So if anything good came out of this crummy situation, alot did. It restored my faith in human compassion, lets face it nowadays people dont seem to care, or they are to busy. Except for you ladies of course on the ICN. Thanks for letting me share my brothers story. -JOJO

boy does that ever bring back memories. When I spent 66 days at Mayo clinic when I was 12 a benefit was held to help with the financial costs too. Even with great insurance my mom was spending the entire time there with me. I was in the hospital at the time of the benefit but they video taped it. I have watched it and can't get through it without crying because of the joy in how so many people cared and helped. Sometimes that is how God works and answers our prayers is buy putting us to work to help out.

I an so happy you could recognize God at work at a time when it can be hard. I hope your brother will get a lot better and like me can see the videotape of how much people care. It is things like that that turned the worst of times into a Spiritual experience for me.

God Bless you both. angel hi
