  • Weight loss supplement (Alli?)

Hi! I am looking to lose weight and along with healthy eating and exercise I am looking for a supplement. I know most contain caffeine though. Does anyone know if Alli is safe? The active ingredient is Orlistat which I’m not familiar with. Also if there is anything else let me know! Thanks!!

Hi there! Alli basically makes some fats go right through your digestive tract unabsorbed. The side effects can be frequent, loose stools with some people having accidents. Those would be my only concerns. Sometimes IC patients have problems when they have digestive upset, so beware of that. Let me know if you have anymore questions. :-)

Julie B thanks so much for replying!! So besides the leaking side effect and possible stomach upset, you think It wouldn’t necessarily cause flares or what I was looking for, any ingredients that are terrible for IC?

      Thanks!!

Personally, I am not a fan of diet aids, but if you want to try it, maybe search the forum. Maybe others have tried it.

I have tried it on and off. It works.... but if you eat high fat foods beware of the side effects! Loose stools and yellow fat droplets! I think you become scared to eat anything with fat in it!!! But it never bothered my bladder.

I know this isn't anything new or wonderful, but I'm also trying to lose weight --- what I'm doing is noting everything I eat --- it's amazing how many calories I was ingesting. I've had a life-long weight battle. Right now I'm on diet number umpteen --- and down two pounds this week.

              Good luck!

I recently did the WholeFoods 30 diet. Not exactly easy but I highly recommend it! Healthy eating and you lose weight. I find I lose weight when I cut the bad carbs.
