Hi MichelleLynn, I also drink our well water, filtered from the refrigerator because I like the taste better, and I do just fine with it. I miss my water so much when we travel! Hope you are still doing well!

If you think there's any possibility that water is a problem for you, it might be less expensive to drink bottled water for a while to see if it makes a difference. I'm also in Oregon, but we have a deep well (no chemicals) and I do drink from the tap. However, when we go to town, I don't --- I can taste the chlorine and it tastes like iodine to me.

I was drinking filtered water. Check the pH, and it was a little acidic, so went to spring water to see if that would help.

I think everyone needs to experiment because we are all different. I do best with filtered water. :-)

I now know that Brita lowers the PH in tap water. I bought the PH testing sticks on line and the Brita pitcher literally turns my water to acidic (5 PH) when it's normally a 6ph ( still not good!). So, I bought a few different types of water and tested them. The Deer Park water tests consistently at a 8 PH which is much better for me. I'm still recovering from the Brita flare but hopefully it's winding down. I won't even use tap water again unless I'm dying of thirst.
    I hope this helps!
Very interesting! I have tried Deer Park, Evian, Essentia and Nestle Pure Life. So far Nestle Pure Life seems like the best fit for me.

My water company Epcor provides the water quality information. I like the quality. Ph of 7.1 to 7.5. Glad to know about the taste aspect that will improve if I let it run out the chlorine. I am not sure that our RO filtered water is better. If the filters are dirty. it can be worse.

Me too . have been on Vagifem for quite a few years now.
I had major problems with the scar tissue damage from my 7 kidney stones . Menapause started all my nerve problems again. Funnily enough,I finally got the name of a specialist in Melbourne Australia ... From this site. God knows what sort of problems I would be dealing with now if I hadn't found her .

So, are you symptom free since switching water?
Just wondering how long you had symptoms and how bad your flares were/are....
I'm new to the forums but have tried so many things. I'm exhausted. I just started Elmiron so hoping I can figure this out :/
    Hi there
No not symptom free but certainly helps ALOT and if I do drink tap water in soups, jellies, or anything really I do get agitated.
I was pretty good for 4 years sticking fairly closely to the IC diet.
Then I hit menopause and my problems came back really badly. That was due to the change in hormones etc.which affects the skin down there .
One thing I am almost certain of is that having my IUD removed has helped me too . I don't need it anymore due to going through menopause . I had the copper based IUD .

if I drink tap water I am flared up in 24 hrs. For me it is the chlorine in the water. I live in Melbourne Aust and only drink Nobles water which is totally pure. I have tried other brands of water but this is the only one that works for me. Alot of bottled water still has chlorine , minerals etc even though they claim to be relatively pure water.
Not drinking tap water, and just drinking Nobles, was the first thing that aided my symptoms. I am sure you will notice a difference for the better after you do this for a couple of days.

ps rain water was OK for me too!!
    Hi all
This popped up after all these years . I wrote this in 2006. It is now 2015 . I totally believe it is the chlorine and chlorides in tap water that upset me. I am still on Nobles in Australia, Penta water in the US,
EQUIL WATER in Indonesia and can't remember the name of the water I drank in Argentina but I could only find it in Walmart over there. Thank god for Google when travelling

I'm going to try drinking only bottles spring water!
I have never had a flare of any kind while on vacation and eating and drinking anything I want.
I come home and within a day or two my symptoms are back....
This would make sense if it's in the water. Here's hoping!
