  • Feeling sorry for myself

    Ok.. Im venting...

I am having one of those days where I am feeling sorry for myself..I went to put my favorite jeans on.. and I cant get them button..So I called my husband crying, he said whats wrong baby... I said im getting fat...See since I went on the IC diet all I eat is carbs.. Oh and my body loves carbs it just sucks them right up and turns them into fat.....

Any ideas what I can eat that does not have carbs in it and is IC friendly?
I guess I will just eat green beans for the rest of my life...lol

AWWWW Rhonda!!! lol I had the same problem a few weeks ago. My bf was in the shower and he came out to find me sitting with my jeans on but the button and fly open cuz I couldnt get it shut!!! He laughed at me and told me I'm not fat. I told him "were not going out to eat until I get these pants on!" I was laying on the bed while he was telling me to suck in while he zipped up my pants and buttoned them. LOL At dinner I was dying cuz I felt like I was gunna rip my pants open. HA HA HA only me!

      carbs

i know the feeling of just eating carbs to keep the ic under control.im a diabetic and to control the i.c. pain for 6 months ive been eating carbs . of course this has affected my diabetes terribly. but i have found a way to balance it and loose weight..i limit my self to 30-40 carbs a day. when you have breakfast have eggs or egg beaters. i make a great quiche in muffin pans so they are bite size and really good with peppers , muchrooms bacon bits and cheese. you can have as many as you want vause they are like one carb each.i made 53 of them yesterday .cause my grand kids love them .
for lunch i eat sara lee bread . the 9 carb a slice kind,,with tuna or a boca burger and cheese or string cheese rolled up in a tortillA( low carb)i make a big meatloaf and use the left overs for sandwiches. you can have carbs just limit them . for dinner i had chicken tenders in alfredo sauce (very lightly) with mushrooms and 1 cup of brocolli.. ill send you some recipes if you like .i cook for a family of 5 every day and 2 of us are low carb eaters.

Aw, leelee, a little (or a lot) of weight gain seems to happen to a lot of us, whether due to mainlining on carbs, or medication side effects, or both.

You can eat a lot of meats and proteins (cheese, eggs) on the IC diet. Not that I am actually doing that, you understand, but it is allowed, and re-balancing your protein-carb ratio would probably get rid of those pesky few pounds pretty quickly.

But remember, your beauty does not depend on your weight and you are a beautiful person under any circumstances.
Je vous souhaite de la joie, de la bonne santée, et tout ce qu'il y a de bon dans la vie.
Wishing you happiness and good health, and all the best out of life.

        Peace, Carolyn

I would LOVE to have some of your recipes. The breakfast muffins sound so yummy! Also, how do you make your alfredo sauce? I made mini meatloaves the other night so I could leave the sauce off of mine. I tried to "spice" it up by adding oatmeal and mozarella cheese to it, but it still wasn't that appealing...any other suggestions????

          Thanks!

Yep, I am with dezcha - you can have them, but in moderation - if you deprive yourself girly, that only adds up to one big binge at some point, and yes, lol, I speak from experience!!!! Just watch out for low-carb prepackaged things like bagels etc - I bought low-carb ones and they kept upping my dang frequency, I was so confused! Then I read the ingredient list - it was loaded with soy flour. So if you are ok with soy, no worries... ugh.

It's got to be a universal girl-crying-over-her-jeans thing. My hubby has a firm and fast rule on these things - "don't complain about it, do something about it if you really want to change, other wise no complaining - I love you just the way you are and you are NOT fat", lol. I tell ya though, sometimes I could just smack him, lmao!!! Maybe I WANT to complain! As much as I want! That's where it's great to have the girls!!!

But I too have been feeling the bulge and honestly, mine's just laziness. LOL I am in a slump, can't get motivated, eat something bad bad bad - then feel guilty about all the calories and kick myself thinking "you really didn't want that, why didn't you have a sensible snack instead? Like one of the Skinny Cow fudge bars...instead of the 5 cups of icecream"...lol Help! I need motivation!!!

I am soooo with you guys. Since I have been on Elavil (20mg) I have put on five pounds in about two weeks. I have this new addiction for almond biscotti. There is a little Italian Market down the street, and since they don't seem to bother my IC, I eat, eat, eat, eat them. But of course i have skim milk instead of whole milk(aren't I good). I have doubled my treadmill time, but my *ss just keeps getting bigger. I am now calling my thighs thights, because they are so tight in my jeans. yikes, will it ever end??

I'm with the rest of you! I gained 20lbs in 4mos on the Elavil!!!! Yikes! Trying to take it off now, but it just won't budge. This morning even putting on a t-shirt made my bulge show, so all day I kept putting my hands over my stomache to cover it. Why can't I just be 18 again??? Weight just seemed to fall off then. I think its true that once you hit 25 its harder to keep it off.

LMAO! Thights! I love that!!! It's so perfect too, as that seems to be where I am feeling the "growth" most, lol. Always have though, I remember as a teen saying I wish I could suck in my thighs like you can your stomach, lol. I just need to get motivated, find my ambition again. That's the problem with not keeping at it - the more I haven't gone to Curves, the more I don't want to go...ugh. Any one have a cattle prod handy???

                      traceann,

Less painful than a cattle prod is a workout buddy - if it's possible to arrange schedules to workout together. I walk with a coworker at least once a day. If she takes vacation or isn't in the office, I find many excuses to skip the walk. But knowing that she's waiting for me keeps me motivated. Fortunately, she doesn't take much time off!

I haven't been able to get rid of the tummy bulge entirely, but have noticed slightly less flabby thighs (or thights!) since I started walking regularly.

We have a "wellness program" here at the office. Exercise program; yoga; walking. I do the walking. I used to do a whole mile around the inside of the building, which is 8 laps LONG LAPS I SHOULD SAY!!) but now, I'm lucky if I do 4. I do this at least 2 times a week.

OK, I bought a couple aerobic exercize videos and I can't keep up. I can keep up wind wise, but now I know why I never made the cheerleading squad. I get one move down and then they add another. ##it. I am so frustrated. Even my cat was laughing at me. I guess it's back to the treadmill for me!

I can honestly say I've been losing weight with soley relying on carbs....I've found what I actually ingest in terms of calories is waaayyyyy different that what I think. Unfortunately I found keeping a detailed food diary let me see where things were adding up. (I'm sorry...prolly not helping am I?)

With this serious bout of IBS-D I've had, I ate only to survive, and no fats, no dairy (omg I love cheese and icecream, yogurt ahhhhhhh!)...you know keeping up at least 1200 cal just to keep my body functions going....I found that I've leaned out. I look better, I feel better....just don't give up! It will get easier, and i found I ate almost a whole box of rice-krispie treats and lost weight...They're IBS safe for me anyways
Somewhere there's a reason /Why things go like they do /Somewhere there's a reason /Why some things just fall through /We don't always see them /For what they really are /But I know there's a reason /Just can't see it from this far /Maybe I don't like it, /But I have no choice /I know that somewhere, /Someone hears my voice / I thought I knew it all /I thought I had it made /How could it end this way? /I thought I knew Somewhere there's a reason /Why things don't go my way /Somewhere there's a reason /That I cannot explain /Just like the change of season, /Just may not be my turn /But I know there's a reason, /The lesson's mine to learn

Ugh... I know how you feel!!! Between being on Lyrica (which has weight gain as a side effect) and, lately, laying around because I've been healing from surgery, I've put on a few pounds too (maybe more than a few ). I haven't tried to put on jeans yet, since tighter pants still irritate my InterStim incision, but I have a feeling that when I DO try to, I'm gonna cry....
