  • Fast Food

    Hey,

I know all of us can lead crazy/ hectic lives, and its sometimes impossible to make dinner, ourselves from time or travel or whatever. I was wondering if we could start a post of our favorite fast food options for those of us who CAN tolerate food from McDonalds, Hardees, KFC or whatever...

    Mine are:

McDonalds: Nuggets with honey to dip
    Bacon Ranch Salad
    Most items from breakfast menu
    Vanilla Shake
    Vanilla Ice Cream
    Cookies

Arby's: Most of the roast beef sandwichs. The "Cheddar" sauce is really tame. I don't add any sauce

    Quiznos: New Roastbeef, garlic sub

    Any other ideas out there??

I always did really well with Burger King burgers with just cheese and lettuce on them and a side salad with Ranch, that I'd dip my fork into to get the flavor, lol!! I also was great with vanilla milkshakes too!
    Hugs,
    Tracey

I do well with sub sandwhiches...turkey and roast beef. I can eat mayo and most cheeses so that is what I have on them.

I LOVE Burger King and can handle that pretty well.

I can also manage to eat Wendy's, McDonalds, Taco Bell. My newest favorite thing is the Wendy's Frosty (like soft serve frozen hot coco/soft serve ice cream in a cup). My mom jokes that I will give myself a hernia trying to suck it through the straw (it's very thick and not easily suckable).

          Medical "Issues":
          IC
          GERD
          Tachycardia(resting rate is 125-130 )
          Medicastions:
          Tramadol-as needed (IC)-50mg
          Elmiron 200mg twice a day
          Levsin .125mg 1-2 pills 4 times a day

            MerryBerryMoose,

I love taco bell, but I'm intrigued at what you can eat. I try it when I'm not flaring and haven't flared in months, but even then I worry about flares. What do you eat at taco bell?

            Thanks!

I also can do KFC or boston market pretty well... forgot to list those earlier.

I don't seem to have a problem with mayo so I usually get the crispy chicken sandwichs w/o tomato at either Burger King or McDonald's. It kills me to get a burger from a place like that w/o ketcup and tomato and all that yummy stuff.
                Christine

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

I hardly ever go to fast food restaurants anymore, but I usually do the crispy chicken sandwiches at Burger King -- the "old school" one on the long oval shaped bun. It comes with mayo and lettuce only, at least the places I've lived, and I can eat both of those. I also like the chicken tenders there (I get the sweet 'n sour sauce but only put like a drop on each one... LOL).

At McDonald's, I usually just get the Quarter Pounder with no cheese... I hate American cheese so IC is not the reason for that one (I can eat all cheeses). I figure if I'm in there I'm cheating anyway.... I just take some Prelief with it and it seems to counteract the ketchup and mustard that's on there.

You guys are lucky that you can eat Ranch dressing. I can't... it almost always has MSG (monosodium glutamate) in it, and that is an insta-flare for me, Prelief or no Prelief. It can also trigger a whopping migraine for me... so even though I love Ranch I can't have it

                      Hey Jen....
I cant have anything with msg in it either..
Heres what I do that kind of taste like ranch, I mix garlic salt (Lawrys) has no MSG, And Mrs dash in with mayonaise.. But just a little bit because it does have some citric acid in it, but no MSG. and a little bit of milk.. Its very tasty, but if you cant do a little of the Mrs Dash, then the garlic salt works good..
                      Hugs

                          Fast Food I can eat:
Wendy's: baked potato & garden salad (I pick out the tomatoes) - I don't eat it there though, I take it home & put IC safe butter on the potato & Marie's lite creamy ranch dressing on the salad. There's a Wendy's on the way home from work & if I'm tired, I'll stop & pick these up to eat at home. No cooking=no dishes.
In&Out: plain hamburger, vanilla milkshake, fries
Subway: Turkey or Roast beef on whole wheat (lettuce, bell pepper, carrots only), milk, Lays Classic potato chips or Fritos original or oatmeal raisin cookie, or raisins.

                          That's it so far.

We don't do fast food very often, but do have pizza fairly often. I order it without red sauce. There are several kinds I can have. We sometimes eat at subway so I can order exactly what I want on a sandwich.

Vanilla milk shakes are my very favorite!!!!
