  • What fruits are safe to eat??

    Hey ladies.
I was wondering, are there any fruits that are safe to eat with IC?
I tend to get constipated easily and prunes and dates always do the trick for me, but they are both very high in potassium and will aggravate the IC. What do I do in this case? I cannot tolerate a ton of fiber either as I have motility issues of my tum and cant digest to much rough fiber(like raw vegis). I am also in a gluten free diet and this is a hard diet to live with as well. I cant seem to find a happy medium. The things that bother IC, are the things that wont upset my tum, and things things that wont bother IC usually are bad for the tum.
Are prunes and dates a big no-no for IC?
    Jen

I can eat: dates, figs, pears, gala apples, melon (except cantaloupe), blueberries and AN occasional cherry or strawberry (only one at a time or I will flare...)

HI! I can eat prunes......I eat 4 or 5 every morning with breakfast. I can eat dates too and love them! I can eat apples and blue berries also and grapes.......but even one strawberry or cherry makes my bladder hurt. Absolutely no citrus fruit.....or any food or drink with citric acid in it. It's SO hard with IC. I have to eat low sugar........but love fruit. So that makes it difficult! Roxie

I'm on a very strict diet because of the IC, IBS and Gastric Bypass. I take Primal Defense Probiotics and whole food Iron.
I no longer have the awful urethral pain! I've been using MSM gel now for 4 mo. and haven't had a flare up or the urethra pain.....it's amazing stuff!!:woohoo:

I do okay w/ apples, grapes (in moderation) and occasionally strawberries. Watermelon makes me have a lot of frequecy but no pain.

                  Thanks for the replies ladies.
I do ok with pears so far. I did try prunes, but then the urogyne gave me a list of no-no foods and that I have to take all of the items out of my diet and that anything with potassium in it will upset my bladder. I have been cutting all things out of my diet and I am still in pain, so I really dont think the diet change has helped at all. This is so frustrating to say the least.

I do ok with pears, blueberries, blackberries, and raisins. I haven't had an adverse reaction to applejuice or banana purees used in the Naked and Bolthouse varieties of smoothies (I stick to the blue varieties of both). I haven't experimented with more than that yet.
