  • Bumbed about my new IC diet

    I have found in the last 4 days the only things that dont flare my IC is water and rice and cereal. If I add anything else the "rath" of pain begins. I am wondering do any of you find eventually you can add your favorite foods or does it stay like this ? I did buy the prelief and I'm going to give it a try! frown

    Most ICers can tolerate many more foods than what you are eating. Are you working with the diet list in the Patient Handbook?

    You might try adding some foods and taking Prelief first. I know it can take a long time to find food triggers, but it's well worth the effort.

    Sending warm encouraging hugs,

      At first I was just eating a very few things also. Mostly potato with butter, plain steak, some fresh cooked veggies, milk, no chocolate, no tomato anything, no cheese except cottage or cream and many more things I couldn't have...but now I do eat about anything I want. I do take lots of Prelief.

        Kellie:

        Do you like blueberries? or pears? If you add blueberries to stuff it would taste so good. And blueberries are very good for the bladder. Pears aren't supposed to hurt you either. I eat Oatmeal in the mornings with flaxseed and blueberries (the real oatmeal....I have to cook it for 10 mins or so) Add the flaxseed, and (if tolerated) also chop up some nuts (almonds) and throw the frozen blueberries on the top. I can tolerate a little milk, but you prob can't. I also have to have a wee bit of brown sugar (bad, bad, bad) but I can't have oatmeal with out it. sometimes, this is all I eat all day because of tummy problems. (Sure helps with going potty)...#2...that is.

        Good luck to you.....T

            The first two weeks diagnosed with IC I was very cautious. I ate patotoes only!

            I became concerned about getting enough vitamins and have added much varity with no problem. I do avoid the obvious no no's like tomatoes, orange juice, chocolate and coffee I drink water only. rolleyes:

            Here are some foods I have found to be safe and painless.
            • <font size="2" face="Arial,Verdana">bell peppers for vitamin C, brocoli, sweet potatoes, squash, pears, blueberries, oatmeal w/brown suger, an occasional Belgium waffle yum!, cereal (Total and Kashi), salmon, steak, eggs and ice cream!
            <font size="2" face="Arial,Verdana">
            I can live with this diet and it has really helped with my pain. Good Luck. Tilly

              I am in the same boat your are with only being able to eat a few foods and I am getting depressed about it. I eat potatoes, butter, pasta, ice cream, eggs, and that is about it. Prelief helps me, but it makes me really constipated so I can't take too much. I am hoping that I can start adding foods as I go, but am feeling pretty frustrated right now. Good luck and if you find anything that helps be sure to post! ))
