If you end up going out, a typical menu item, or something you could ask for, is spaghetti "alla olio", which is basically spaghetti with olive oil and sometimes herbs, like oregano and garlic.

Yes! I second that. Safeway carries a pesto sauce (Armanino brand), in the freezer section near the raviolis & vegetables, that I can tolerate very well.
I put it on pasta with cooked chicken, pieces of zucchini. Or I put a little in an omelet. Or it's good on sandwiches too. (But, it does give you some powerful garlic breath. Idea: serve it to your family after a DMSO treatment! Only we IC-ers would know why that's funny.)

If you can tolerate pesto, that is one of my favorite pasta sauces. Also I really love pasta with just garlic, shallots, olive oil, chicken, and veggies.

You might try skipping straight to desert.... I use to do that a lot when eating out when I was super diet sensitive...... i.e., I'd just get vanilla icecream with hot fudge sauce

Thanks ABliske I really can't take credit for how cute he is though since he looks nothing like me, he looks like his daddy and his half siblings.

We eat at church every Wednesday night and the ladies who fix always fix me something special. I fixed spaghetti for the family and took some Hambuger meat out before adding the tomato sauce. I fixed noodles, hambuger meat, butter and garlic for myself and it was really good. You might want to try something like this or come up with your own. Bamafan

The mushrooms and feta sounds great! I'm going to have to try that. Your little boy is very cute Griffsmom! You kind of look like my cousin Kelley who's a new mom. People always tell me I have a familiar looking face too. It's kind of funny.

Because we have a big family we ususally have spaghetti once a week because it's cheap and all the kids like it. What I usually do is cook up some sliced mushrooms in some olive oil and put that on my pasta with some feta because that's IC friendly. I'm getting sick of it now after eating it so many weeks in a row so I'll have to find a new idea but it wouldn't be hard to bring some cooked mushrooms and feta with you.

I thought this would be a post on a potluck type thing. I was going to say honeydew wrapped in proscuitto. If it's all premaid I'd skip dinner altogether rather than eat tomato sause. Try to get some plain noodles. Meatballs are okay without sause and good. I made some the other night with ground turkey, seasoned bread crumbs, salt and pepper and they can out very good. My husband liked them. I like noodles with butter and a little mozzerella and basil.

Plain pasta with butter works well for me.
You can bring a salad dressing of olive oil/pear juice/basil to put on lettuce.
Also, if you are doing a potluck, here's a recipe that you might bring..
Chicken spinach mozzarella lasagna
Here's a link to a recipe for chicken & spinach lasagna
I eliminate the onions & black pepper, though some with IC can tolerate them.
Just make sure the chicken broth you get is IC safe (no msg, onion powder).
Enjoy!

When I'm really stuck, I eat pasta with no sauce at all and it's actually pretty good. If they have a pot luck where you can take food, you could just plan on taking a large casserole with IC safe foods in it. Lots of times I end up at a pot luck eating just what I brought and nobody seems to notice. And if they do, they don't say anything.

Can you just eat the noodles with butter? Or bring your own "sauce" to pour on the noodles? It may be embarassing, but that's what I do...bring the foods I can eat. Nobody cares, if they care about YOU.

I feel your pain. My church has Italian food quite a bit too. I guess it's cheaper and easy to fix for a large group. I can sometimes get away with eating spaghetti with taking Prelief and drinking alot of water. But there are times that I pay the price. Our Sunday School class is going to eat tonight at Olive Garden. I will probably get chicken alfredo.
