what are you using it for? Constipation or Diarrhea?
Somewhere there's a reason /Why things go like they do /Somewhere there's a reason /Why some things just fall through /We don't always see them /For what they really are /But I know there's a reason /Just can't see it from this far /Maybe I don't like it, /But I have no choice /I know that somewhere, /Someone hears my voice / I thought I knew it all /I thought I had it made /How could it end this way? /I thought I knew Somewhere there's a reason /Why things don't go my way /Somewhere there's a reason /That I cannot explain /Just like the change of season, /Just may not be my turn /But I know there's a reason, /The lesson's mine to learn
ahhhh. OK. Well I guess constipation takes longer to straighten out than diarrhea. Diarrhea can take only a week or so. Constipation takes much longer...why? I have no clue.
You can start with 1/2 tsp Acacia per day. Use measuring spoons--not spoons you eat with. Every week bump it up a bit til you find what works for you.You can mix it in water, or whatever you drink, in your meal...its pretty odorless, tastless and doesn't lump and clump like other fiber supplements.
And prmotes good gut bacteria too

No, it should not cause tummy cramps...its not a laxative. You can take it anytime of day....say once in the AM with water or your oatmeal. And then again at nite with water or mixed in with moist food.
Its a bulking agent (all it is is arabic gum) its very nuetral and should not affect your IC in any way. It creates bulk so your intestines have something to grab a hold of and keep the intestinal muscles stretched out and working properly.
Its a soluble fiber. That means its easily diluted in water, easy on your digestive tract.
Things that may irritate would be bran, psyllium, prunes, inulin (aka chicory root)...these things irritate the gi tract and cause rapid movement (and prollly yucky tummy cramps and pain.
