I use Kava, an acid reduced instant coffee for my morning caffeine. One the occasions when I treat myself to a cup of "real" coffee I use a couple of Prelief.

I'm finally at the point where I can handle having some real Coke (not the diet stuff because of the aspertame) without too much increase in frequency. A 20 oz. bottle can last me all afternoon and evening, though.

We're all different so not everyone can tolerate the same foods and drinks. I do suggest trying Prelief if you haven't yet. I found it to to be helpful and allowed me to eat and drink some of the foods that affected me the most.

Here's a nice quick list from this site that shows you the top 5. Unfortunately the list is MUCH MUCH MUCH longer for us.

    Hope that helps.

Is there one food/drink that's universally really bad for just about everyone? Does that make sense? I'm on a lot of meds right now...

I know some people can tolerate carbonation. I don't happen to be one of them. (At least I don't think so...) When I have soda...I usually drink diet which has aspertame in it too, another no-no. So really it could be lots of things...the citric acid is very likely as well (in sparkling lemonades and such.) But let's say i drink a diet Coke...not as much pain as a sparking lemonade...just lotsa trips to the bathroom.

Soda...usually 45 minutes ish before I have to go the bathroom reaallyy badly.
    Carbonated Lemonade...20 minutes then OW!!

I can't speak for others though so hopefully more people will chime in.

Question: If you drink a soda, are you hit with intense pain? How long after does it come?

Do most people with IC have reactions like these?

Low Acid drinks WITH caffeine but no carbonation?

I know, a lot to ask for.

So far I've tried both Foldger's and Trader Joe's Low acid coffee with caffeine. I'm very grateful that I am able to withstand both of them. By withstand I mean not have to go to the bathroom 15 minutes after drinking it. Usually I can wait 1-2 hours which is pretty good. Well, actually it's amazing. With Starbucks I'm in the bathroom at LEAST 3 times within the next hour. Sadness.

Anyway...do you guys have any other suggestions for drinks that have caffeine and low acid, or caffeine and no carbonation? I'm just a poor student trying to make it through 12 hour days.

Silly me...I thought it would be okay to have one little glass of my favvvorite carbonated French Berry Lemonade from Trader Joe's. 20 minutes later I felt like someone had punched me in the stomach. Alas!!!

Thanks for the suggestions in advance everyone.
